I want to pursue career in science. The future depends on knowledge creation. It is going to be a knowledge based society and IISER do the same job. I want to contribute to our country's Research department and this was the main motive of me in selecting IISER.
Course Curriculum Overview
In the first two years (that is the first 4 semesters) at IISER Mohali, the course structure is same for everyone. There are core courses which every student has to attend. The curriculum for the first two years (four semesters) will be :1. Physics2. Chemistry3. Biology4. Mathematics5. Interdisciplinary Courses6. Humanities and Social Sciences. Along with these courses, you will have lab (practical) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in all the four semesters. The lab sessions are held from 2pm to 5 pm everyday for each subject (physics on one day, chemistry on the second day and biology on the third day)After the common courses in 2 years, you are free to choose either of the PCMB for your Majors.
Placement Experience
Talking about placement, there are no such cells for this. People find it on their own, and they go for Higher Studies like PhD and Post Doc etc. If we talk about the internship, there are a lot of opportunities for students here, from Microsoft to Mercedes Benz, you can apply anywhere.
College Events
The tri-city of Chandigarh-Mohali- Panchkula is one of Indias best cities to live and work in, by many different indices. It has often been ranked at the top of the country's list of state capitals and union territories, in different analyses published by various magazines. So, the nice location of it in Mohali provides you an opportunity to enjoy all the clubs and bars of tricity. Annual fest of IISER Mohali is Insomnia.
Fees and Financial Aid
INSPIRE scholarship. Department of Science and Technology provides a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships of Rs. 5000/- per month to candidates admitted through JEE and SCB channels, upon fulfilling the criteria set by DST.
Campus Life
Environmental friendly campus with a lot of greenary. Earthquake safe buildings. 4 hostels for students and one visitor hostels for visitors. 2 academic blocks for labs. One library and one animal Facility building.
Hostel Facilities
There are currently four hostels at IISER Mohali, each with a capacity of approximately 250 students. All rooms are for single occupation with attached balcony. Each floor has six common washrooms. The hostels have mixed population of girls, boys, MS and PhD students; whereas the living sections for the genders are segregated, each hostel has a common TV room with attached canteen, as well as an attached mess for the main meals along with some other common areas for study and extra-curricular activities.
