Course Curriculum Overview
In IISER Mohali, you are required to study all subjects for the first two years. then pick your major and study for next two years and write your thesis in your final year. I choose physics as my major, there are many theoretical & computational faculty and a few experimental people. Exams were not too difficult to pass
Internships Opportunities
The college offers summer internships to students from campus itself and other colleges. These are unpaid internships in a lab of your choice if the professors agree to take you. You spend 1-2 months in the summer and usually write a project report at the end of it.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees increase every year for newer batches, but remained consistent within a batch. I got the KVPY scholarship which included 5k/month + 20K summer contingency fund for the first three years and 7k/month + 28k summer contingency fund for the final two years.
Campus Life
Annual fest is called Insomnia. There is a big library with a lot of academic texts, big lecture halls and smaller class rooms. There was a lot of freedom on campus. And there are many clubs by students for many activities.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels were old with a single room and shared bathrooms. The mess food was not particularly great and declined in quality over the course of a semester, but it was not too expensive. There are two canteens in the hostel area.
Admission
There were three main admission channels: through JEE, KVPY and SCB. I wrote the KVPY exam in 11th grade. The cut-off for interview was 67/100, after which an interview was conducted, where they asked you questions based on a form you fill up before the exam listing your interests.
