What Students Say?
Likes
- Faculties and staff really care about student's placement and future. Also they push us to do innovations and experiments.
- Teachers are really experienced and skilled.
Dislikes
- Here college life is more like a school as you'll have to wear uniform and discipline is highly obeyed, one cannot leave the campus before dismissal
- Most of the teachers here are Bengalis so students who comes from other states has to face difficulties as sometimes teacher starts teaching in their regional language
Course Curriculum Overview
I belong to department of btech(csbs) which deals with both technical and management world. The best part of this course is that it's a market oriented course as you'll be prepared as per the current demands of the market and you will also have fair knowledge of engineering and technology which will help the student to ace in both the management and technical feild. Exams are quite frequent here so that's a con as you'll have to prepare in much less time for the exams
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are there in this college. Your teachers and mentors will keep sending you informations about new internships opportunities. From MNCs to startups, all type of companies and organisations provide internship opportunities here and even the stipend is pretty fair.
Placement Experience
Placement of iem is the best among the other private engineering colleges in west bengal. Major companies hiring here are amazon, pwc, tcs, congnizant, Deloitte etc. students also get very high package from here and on campus placement is worth it too. More than 2-3 students get highest package in on campus placements in this college. Average package is 8 lacs and 72 lacs is the highest package in off campus
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fee is- 170000, which is 85000 per semester, but in the first semester the fees is higher which is around 110000 and after that it's 85000. The total course fee becomes 7,05,000. If the student opts for hostel he/she will have to spend 100000 extra for hostel fees per year. If you have tfw quota, the course fee becomes just around 150000. Other fees are not included it's just semester fees.
Campus Life
Campus life is not there, the campus itself looks like a corporate building or some small school. Also the building and interior looks old. Still college holds pretty number of fests, competitions, hackathons, sports tournaments in every month the college is engaged in such activities. There's a large variety if books and journals available in Library so you don't have to worry about your study materials. Classrooms are generally non ac and in some classrooms the benches are very uncomfortable. There are plenty of clubs in this college to take part in and sports authority here is fairly active in organising sports events and matches.
Admission
Iem is the best private engineering college of west bengal right now which is a very obvious reason to go for this college. But honestly i wanted to go to heritage institute of technology as i knew iem has strict rules to deal with and they're very strict on their attendance criteria. But it's not bad here as this college is the best college because it deserves to be the best. You get proper guidance from your mentors and one also this college works on making you efficient and skilled. Admission process was kind off chaotic but still the admission staff was helpful at that time.
Faculty
Faculty members are really helpful here but it's adviced to know a little bit of bengali to survive here. They'll help students in every manner whether it's studies, projects, placements etc. faculty to student ratio is also good as you get more than one teachers for one subject here. Some teachers are really friendly and comfortable to talk with. Hod of our department in first year, Mr. Prabir kumar das sir was also very helpful and understanding. Per semester one will have to give 3 theory exams (mid term 1, mid term 2, end term examinations) and 1 practical exams. Teachers work really hard to provide materials that are important for the exams so if the student will just give a little extra effort, there's no chance of getting failed.
