Course Curriculum Overview

4

In terms of curriculum, IIEST has a cons in this term having a old curriculum, but still professors are very good out of the top so none of any student will feel left out in the competitive world, professors teach so well. In every semester there are mid semester after 2 months of commencement of classes and end semester after 4.5 months of commencement of classes.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There are companies visiting our College every year for each department (internship), companies like PWC, Accenture provides oppourtunity to everyone, where as companies like TATA steel provides internship oppourtunity to Mining, Electrical and Electronics students only. Google, trilogy, BNY Mellon, Accenture, PWC, Tata steel, Texas Instruments, etc are companies providing internship.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are good, rather than college don't allows 6 months internship then also placements are one of the good aspect of IIEST shibpur, This year (ongoing placement) off campus offer of 3.5 Crore is given to a student, the average placement till last yr was around 11.5 lakhs per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

Academic fees per yr :- 1) For those students (only General, Non NCL OBC students) whose parent salary income is greater than 8 lakhs, then he or she will have to pay Rs.68000/= (in odd sem ) and Rs. 68500/= (in even sem) 2) For those students (only General EWS and OBC NCL) whose parent income is less than 8 lakhs but greater than 5 lakhs per annum, then or she will have to pay Rs 23000/= (odd sem) and Rs 23500/=(even sem) 3) for SC / ST student and those who are having family income less than 1 lakh per annum has to pay Rs.5500 (every sem) . Scholarships:- 1) GAABESU :- organisation run by our College Alumni, provides a handsome scholarship to deserving students (having cgpa >= 8 ), a sum of RS 40000/= is allotted to student. 2)FFE:- private scholarship organisation provides a scholarship of 60K per yr

Campus Life

3

The overall experience at IIEST shibpur is awesome, as it has everything which is required, every student has equal opportunity for every sports, society, clubs and all, one depending on his or her interests can go in society, clubs of their ground.

Hostel Facilities

3

There are around 14-15 residences (including hostes, halls, and girls hostels), being a college of old times, hostel infrastructure are also not upto the marks, but there is everything provided to students, washing machine is also available there for students, for every student a chair and a table is given (along with bed).

Admission

To get admission here, one must have to secure a rank in JEE main examination, and then have to apply for jossa + csab counselling to get any department here (according to their JEE main rank). I choose this college over any other just because this college has its mining engineering department started in 1906, which is the oldest mining engineering department in India.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty to Student ratio:- 1:50 Prof. NCD sir, HOD, Mining engineering, IIEST shibpur, having a handful of experience marks him a very brilliant teacher. There are mid semester and end semester examination in every semester.(Exams are moderate )

Well as far as mh knowledge students get to placements from 6th semester itself . Well there are placement classes from 3rd semester itself . The placement track record of the college is quite good with most year about 90% gets placed with good companies comming like Deloitte, EY GDS , JP MORGAN, Oracle , offering high amount of placement offers like around 20+ lpa . Well I am not sure about my plans maybe if the palacement is good I'll take it or will be preparing for GATE (Whose courses are also provided from college .)

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since I'm in first year so I don't got into my specialization that much , but from my knowledge we are getting knowledge about all domain in a portion which will help us in our future . This also helps us to decide that specifically which domain is best for us . Since I'm in first year so I didn't have my exams yet because of the late admission in college the reason for late admission was stay in admission by the Calcutta Highcourt due to some issues on reservation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

-> CSE is the main stream because under this, other courses like Cybersecurity can be learned as extra courses, while still learning things that are very important like DSA and DAA. -> Everything is taught slightly fast and students have to keep up everyday. Even one class missed will be heavy on studying. -> The mic quality in some classes are bad and should be improved. It's impossible to understand what the teachers says when using them. -> Usually term exams start one month after the start of a semester, with the Semester exam being held 3 months later.
