Course Curriculum Overview
I came to know about this college from few of my relatives that this is a reputed college and it focuses on academics. I think that the college should have a holistic approach on completing the syllabus and improve in this area. The IT/e-filing practical classes are good. We have internal exams in which more than half of the syllabus has to be prepared for just 10-20 marks internals which I think is good since we get to practice and makes us prepared for our main exam.
Placement Experience
The semester students of their respective streams are informed about the placements via official whatsapp group. From second year onwards we can give interview on the visited companies like TCS , Bharat matrimony and are informed about job fairs with companies like Unilever, unifound. The students who are interested give it a try and they can get the placement if they are eligible. I have only attended a job fair and it was an average experience as the recruiters emphasized on clearing the semester first. I'm in 6th semester currently.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees including tuition and service fee is around 10000 a year for bcom students. We can apply for SVMCM, aikyashree and kanyashree scholarships. We get informed about recruitment going on in our college for some companies like Bharat Matrimony, TCS, and other job fair at other colleges. And as for the stipend it is not disclosed unless we are hired.
Campus Life
Overall the teachers are good but I think there is more room for improvement based on college maintenance and cleanliness, otherwise it is fine. Annual festivals like saraswati puja, independence day, teachers day, childrens day are held in college campus hall. There are two libraries in the campus and our courses books are available. We have smart board in the classrooms. Sports is held once a year in December. And we get informed about intercollege events.
Admission
Eligibility criteria for bcom is General category 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in accounts 55% marks in aggregate and 55% marks in maths/stats. (Science students) For SC/ST/OBC - A/OBC- B 40% marks in aggregate or in related subject. Application form, fees, dates will be available in the college official website notice. (Sivanathsastricollege.org) As for exams, only internal exams are held and the difficulty level is medium
Faculty
The class strength is around 100 and the mode of communication is bengali as majoriy of the students are bengali so sometimes it becomes quite difficult for me, but the teachers do speak in english if asked to explain in english. The teachers are neutral, neither too harsh nor too lenient.
