Course Curriculum Overview
The aspects of the curriculum which really influenced my decision was building the foundation of accounting to holding expertise, which was aligned with my goal of studying CA. The curriculum used to be upto date which give us a real time exposure. The exam used to take place in every 3 months.
Fees and Financial Aid
Umeschandra College is a public based university in Kolkata. I opted for Bachelor of commerce where I was having accountancy as my majors. As it is public university the course fees is very affordable for those candidates who don't want to compromise in their quality of study as well. The faculty is very supportive, very approachable. They don't have any lab or student aid as such.
Campus Life
In our college days, we used to celebrate Holi, Diwali, Eid, Christmas, New Year and many more. As per the courses, library used to have updated books which really helped us. We used to have sports day, football tournament, Cricket tournament and badminton tournament. Now, I am not aware the student run social groups.
Admission
I applied to various colleges like AJC BOSE college, THK JAIN COLLEGE, GOENKA COLLEGE and many more. I was selected to most of the universities except one that is Goenka as it was having a higher eligibility criteria which I couldn't able to meet. The reason why I choose this college because my cousin was the alumni of the college and the second reason was the affordability of the tuition fees. The entry requirement is 65% in std 12 and no other test is required. But the candidate must need to check the cut off every now and then.
Faculty
The College only had one faculty that is faculty of commerce. The best part of studying there was the faculty used to know us by name and they used to do our SWAT analysis. The faculty to student ratio was 1:50. The faculty I really liked was International business, accounting. There used to be one internal test every semester. Student passing the exams ratio was really high.
Night Life
The college don't have any such facilities. No hostel facilities inside the campus. The best hangout place outside the campus is malls like Mani Square and City Centre 1. And there is one of park nearby named Central Park.
