- The closed knit companion shop between students.
- Almost all the programs are conducted by students therefore every student learns about managing events, speaking to sponsors
- The number of clubs and workshops they offer throughout the year.
Dislikes
- The only downside of the college is the infrastructure. It only consists of two blocks and a rather small campus.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is from KTU as the college is under the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The latest revision of the curriculum was in 2019 with another revision expected later this year. There are end of semester exams conducted by the university and also 2 internal exams in each semester conducted by the department. The difficulty of the exam varies with papers in the particular semester.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunity is not directly given by the college but rather through the clubs/organisations such as FOSS, GDC, TINKERHUB, TRAINING CELL, IEEE, etc that have a prominent presence in the college.
Placement Experience
The students are ready for campus placement from the 7th semester. Nvidia, Ericsson, Harman, IBM, Oracle, Yahoo, Amazon, etc are the companies that visit for placement. The highest package was 52 lakhs CTC in 2024 and the average is around 7 lakhs CTC. The total number of offers made in 2022 was 416.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees are usually fixed and are not subject to frequent changes. The complete cost of the course is approximately ?3,10,000. There are scholarships available for students from reserved categories. There are also financial aids for students in need for financial assistance.
Campus Life
The annual techno-cultural fest is EXCEL which is conducted around the months of October/November. There are also plenty of the other events conducted by the various clubs of the college all throughout the year. The Arts and Sports are also not left out with an annual event every year. Besides that the college also has its own teams in various events such as quizzes, debates, cricket, football, badminton, etc. The library has all the reference books required for the course and is available throughout the year. The classrooms are equipped with projectors and there is WiFi connectivity throughout the college. There is a club for everyone at MEC that means no one will feel left out. All the seniors are very welcoming and everyone is part of the "MEC FAMILY".
Admission
The eligibility to the course is from KEAM examination. The BTech CSE course has an approximate cutoff of 1870 rank. The admission process is pretty straight forward and it ends with a one on one meeting with the Principal and Head of Department of your course. The application forms and all other details can be availed from the college website. The KEAM examination is not that tough when compared to JEE. The examination is usually conducted once a year during the months of May/June with registration starting from April.
Faculty
The faculty here are well experienced and qualified with many of them having doctorates in their respective fields. The teachers and professors are very friendly and approachable and are willing to help with almost anything. The teaching is a mix of hands on approach and a modern way of presentations and lectures.
Interview Experience
The GD is not tough and usually doesn't require any sort of preparation. It is just to evaluate your social skills and communication ability. The admission process is very straight forward and usually is on a single day depending on the course chosen.
