Course Curriculum Overview

3

I choose this course because I liked studying Political Science in school. However, it was only after I got into college that I realised that Political Science as an undergraduation degree is quite different from what we studied in school. Its more theoretical in nature. To be honest, it is not relevant to the real world in any way. So, if you are going to opt thia course to get to know the real working of our political work, you are opting for disappointment only. I think they should improve the curriculum by making it more about real world political scenarios instead of innumerous theories given my innumerous people decades or centuries ago. Exams only happen once per semester. However we do have our internals in which one or two class tests are conducted. They are based on one or two units and we are given enough time (a week or more) to prepare for them. Difficulty level is easy. One can study a night before exam and can easily score 80%.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Students gets internships in various fields such as marketing, public affairs, general managerial work, etc Stipend mostly varies from 6000-15000 per month based on your work. Tasks are- working on ppt, Excel sheets, handle social medias of the companies, etc.

Placement Experience

3.5

I am not much aware abour placements in my college. However, there is an internship cell and a placement cell which help students. Usually students from Economics department and Commerce department gets good placements. However, general placements options are available for students of other streams also. Majority of the students in other courses are indulged in govt exams preparations like UPSC, SSC CGL, etc. Some are also preparing for CAT(for MBA), CUET(for PG courses)

Fees and Financial Aid

Our tuition fees for one semester are 22500. Along with that, we have to pay examination fees for our semester exams, which vary between 1100 and 1600 based on our selection of papers. Complete tuition fees will be 67500 And considering 1200 examination fees per sem makes it 7200. So, a total of 68700. There are a total of 23 scholarships provided by our college. Rajiv Bhargava- students of humanities department, 70,000 per year Others-—Premvati Raghubir Singh Scholarship, SP Raina No, I have not taken any internship from the college. However, students do opt for both paid and unpaid scholarships. Stipends range from 5000-15000 per month.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life at hindu college is good. The campus is not very big but it feels good to hang around in the college. Some of the usual spots are canteens, new academic block, BRC, amphitheatre and sports complex. However, all of these are good for winters or when the weather is not hot. Classrooms are not equipped with ACs so its a big problem in summers. Also the seats are not very comfortable for students aged 20 on average.

Admission

1. We had to register for Cuet exam at NTA website. 2. Give minimum 3 domains(subjects studies in school), one Language (in case of DU English was compulsory) and General Test if you are switching streams( I did not gave this) 3. Register on Samarth portal for Delhi University admission. Provide all information, upload all documents and make a preference list of course-college options after researching properly. 4 after the results are declared, they automatically go to the universities you have applied and after some time colleges provide their cutoffs for each course. In political science hons. from Hindu college the cutoff was 797/800. 5. You get notified if you got your first preference or not. If you got you pay the fees and accept it. If you got some other preference you can pay the fees to reserve your seat and apply for upgrade. In second or third list if there are any empty seats in above colleges, one can get upgraded and get their fees refunded.

Faculty

3.5

Our class has 73 students and on daily basis 45-50 students are present in class. According to me the student-teacher ratio is fine. I would say not to expect much from faculty members. They teach the same as most of the school teachers. Some of them are quite good but majority is just average. Teachers are definitely very approachable both online and offline. Mostly all the assignments, tests etc related communication is done by the CRs. Apart from that any individual Student can approach any teacher and make an appointment for any specific discussion.

Other Applied Colleges

Delhi University - [DU] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (History)

I applied to more than 20 college and courses. However, my first preference was Hindu College Pol Sc. (Hons.) Course

Placement Experience:

placement and internship fares are regularly conducted on campus where various companies which are mostly start-ups visit to recruit students for internships and entry level roles. Students become eligible for internships from the first year itself. placement opportunities are generally available after the completion of the full degree and only final year. Students are eligible to apply for full-time rules. last during our last internship and placement fair over 20 companies visited and recruited almost 150 candidates. There are no separate records distinguishing internship from placement. The highest package reported for economics honours is around 12 lakhs per annum and the average package is approximately five lakhs per annum. As per my future plans,I intend to pursue a masters degree after completing my undergraduate course.

For USME, FMCG and Financial companies are the ones which are put in place. The only reason is that those are the companies where we can add value and placements of both courses of USME happens together and combined if I say around 75% students are placed. My plan though is to join GIPE after my graduation ends this year.

DTU because East campus is more known for USME placements revolve around us. Now core companies of our sectors are the ones that deals with finance, insurance or stocks. So nearly 20-30 companies of that space or sector hires over 100 students of BAE every year.

Our college has a very active and effective placement cell. Major companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain among many others come on campus for not just placements but also internships. Average and Median packages are between 8 and 10 lakh per annum, with highest packages going up to 25 lakhs. Many also go for postgraduate education, such as MBA after CAT, or to reputed colleges like the DSE for MA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Too vague to understand, feels extra burden of unnecessary irrelevant topics , extra papers like SEC/VAC simply add to the burden while barely providing with any skills and values as their name suggests . Studying them and preparing for exams add extra stress and unnecessary burden on them , diverting their focus from their core papers , which are already too huge and they study materials or readings simply fail to assist . Areas for improvement would be - proper structured study materials , also proper structured practical subjects / papers for students where they can actually learn or gain knowledge/skills which will be advantageous in their future .
