Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I think Chemical engineering is such a field that is highly on demand. I have a love for the subject chemistry and the concepts of Chemical engineering are applied everywhere in our day to day lives. And we're taught more than just our cirruculum. The theory and the practical classes are equal. We're also taken to plants to view in real life how operations take place inside the Chemical reactors. I think it's a very relevant course in today's time and the difficulty level is not that much. Examination depends on ones preparation and hard work and determination.

Internships Opportunities

4

People can go for research in the subject of their interests, make their desired projects and also opt for higher studies in them. Internship starts soon after 2nd year and anybody can apply for internships. The stipend is well.

Placement Experience

5

Placements in our campus is top tier be it of any department. On campus placements take place and good companies come, however the student can sit for off campus placements too. From 7th semester, the student is eligible to sit for the placements. And from 3rd semester the student can apply for internships. Core companies, to consultancy to IT companies all of them visit our campus. Example- Amazon, Microsoft, PWC, Deloitte, ITC etc paying high packages to freshers. Almost 90% percentage get placed from which some students even opt for higher studies. Average package is 15lpa and the highest goes upto 1 crore. After getting the degree I want a decent package of 30-40 lpa.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is minimal. It's just 12000 for 4 year undergraduate course. It's nothing in comparison to the private colleges or even NITS and IITs. JU is the cheapest engineering college in India. Also students with poor financial background don't even have to pay this amount because either they get scholarship or their fees get waived. One such scholarship is Swami Vivekananda scholarship. There's also hostel and mess which the students can opt for but it's not compulsory and the charges are very minimal. The placement ratio is quintessential.

Campus Life

5

One can never bored in Jadavpur university. Campus life is top notch here. There's something going on here every single day. We know how to study as well as do things for recreation. There are various clubs like dance modelling, photography, mountaineering, debating, robotics, science, coding, acting, music club etc. I'm sorry if I've missed any but there's just so many. Our annual fest Sanskriti is the largest in east Asia which takes place over a period of 30 days in the month of March-April. There are other fests like Ibtida, indak, Srijan(tech fest) etc. Also sports is very much active in our campus. All types of sports such as cricket, football, basketball, table tennis etc is available here. Our college infrastructure is one of the best in east Asia. We have various departmental libraries also we have one main central library. It has vast range of books. Most of the classrooms have acs and is neat and clean. Our campus is student-friendly.

Admission

So in order to get into Jadavpur university, one needs to Crack WBJEE exam which is West Bengal joint entrance examination. It takes place once a year. One needs to register themselves in order to sit for the exam. To get into engineering the student needs to give a paper of physics and chemistry which comprises of 100 marks and maths paper which comprises of 100 marks. If the student wants to opt Pharmacy then he/she has to give only the physics chemistry paper and skip the maths paper. Cutoff trends differ every year. And it's not that difficult to Crack. The student has to be thorough withe their 11-12 syllabus and should solve the pyqs with ease. That's all. The application form, fees and dates everything is given on the wbjee website. Once you secure a rank, you get your desired department. Also reservation of sc/st/obc quota exists during admission process.

Faculty

4.5

The teaching professionals and faculty is top notch. They're the best in the country. All of them are highly qualified. Talking about our engineering faculty, most of the teaching staff are grads from IITS or foreign universities. Also there's good interaction between students and professors. Professors always try their best to bridge the gap between the students so that they can bring our the best in their students.
