Course Curriculum Overview

4

In my degree civil engineering, there are topics like construction management, structural mechanics, theory of structure, design of structure, geotechnical engineering, water resource engineering, environmental engineering, transportation engineering, valuation pricing and costing etc all the subjects are taught very well. Some of the syllabi are backdated and need to be revised. Even the department organisation and academic tour to an Industrial Area for overall exposure to the industry helps the students a lot. In the case of the teaching method, the proper sync between board work and PPT needs to be done by the professors.

Placement Experience

4

The placement scenario of Jadavpur University is remarkable over the year. In case of 2023 the branches like mechanical engineering , instrumentation electronics And Computer Science Engineering showed 100% placement. Where as my department civil engineering showed 97.5% placement.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

At the time of admission via decentralized counselling they took 5210 rupees that was total fees of first and second year including the admission fees, laboratory fees sport fees and others. In second year you don't have to pay any fees. In third and fourth year you have to pay 2450 rupees for 2 years. That makes the total fees equal with 10110 rupees for a student who is willing to pursue any engineering degree from Jadavpur University except information technology for information technology the fees is around 40000 rupees.

Campus Life

5

The campus life of Jadavpur University can't be removed from someone's memory once if he or she takes admission into it. Due to presence of all three faculties that are engineering science and art the campus festivals and Technical events are huge in size and capacity. There is a open air theatre and lots of auditoriums in the college also there is a huge playground and seven canteen that make the 55 acres campus to be an enjoyable one. The annual cultural fest is known as Sanskriti and the annual techno management fest is known as Srijan. Apart from that there are lots of clubs in Jadavpur University like science club motorsports club Aerospace club etc that boost our skills and event organising power.

Admission

After getting my WBJEE rank my first college allotted was Heritage Institute of Technology. After that I got Kalyani Government Engineering College and University of Calcutta respectively. But Jadavpur University was an obvious choice for me when I got admission into it during its decentralized counselling. In heritage I got Computer Science and Engineering where as in Kalyani I got electrical engineering and in University of Calcutta I got information technology. But all of this colleges placement is not compable with Jadavpur University Civil Engineering at all. Jadavpur University in terms of fees and placement is way ahead then any other colleges that comes under WBJEE. You have to score at least under 3000 rank to get your dream college that is Jadavpur University.

Faculty

4

The faculty members in my department have fees degree from either Jadavpur University or the Indian Institute of Technology. The teacher student ratio is average. The research exposure in this university is very good. There are some professors of our university who are enlisted in the top 2% researchers list published by Stanford University. In my department we have to give two class test following by a semester examination that means Total 3 examinations in one semester apart from that we have to give lab report submission and Viva for the sessional and laboratory classes. The difficulty level of the classes and the exams depends upon the preparation it can be moderate to hard for an average student. In case of civil engineering the course curriculum rotates around construction of building bridges transportation systems as well as in compasses around environmental engineering what are resources and West water management system so over all the course is relevant and makes a person industry ready.

Other Applied Colleges

University of Calcutta | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Information Technology)

Placement is not upto the mark. Less exposure.
