Likes
- Academics : In my college I have found the number of good faculty members who have knowledge as well as affection towards their respective subjects. The study plan was balanced, and this is why i had strong feelings regarding classes I took.
- Campus Facilities : The college provided facilities such as appropriate structures and a central library, extensive sporting facilities and the campus was quite large and filled with greenery.
- Social Life : It was pleasant to warm the communication with my classmates and friends during the lesson. My college was very diverse, so I always learned a lot of things, which I was able to share with the other students.
Dislikes
- High Competition : Some of the inconveniences that I experienced in the college was that as it is an IIT the college faculties have high standards and education is super competitive. This puts the students on pressure to deliver very often
- Campus Safety : Security was paid attention to in my college though there were times when one felt insecure on campus.
- Girls to Boys Ratio : Frankly speaking, I don't have statistics regarding the girls to boys ratio in my college but the ratio was bad enough during my time and there were very less girls as compared to guys
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is well developed and the major areas of learning are adequately addressed. It has prepared students for practice as well as for further education. I wanted to point at such aspects of teaching design that need to be developed : offerings of practical projects and a greater focus on interactive teaching methods. Exams are scheduledd but may prove to need extra assistane for comprehension of some of the contents.
Fees and Financial Aid
IIT Kharagpur yearly fee for the B.Tech programs which include the fees for the academic year 2024 is about INR 2.2.4 lakhs per year for UG category that includes almost all additional charges, like tuition fee, hostel fee and other miscellaneous expenses. The overall fee structure for a whole four years B.Tech program ranges between Rs. 9-10 lakhs with slight variations and extra costs. This fee structure may also vary for students with reservation and other scholarship benefits so you should keep that in mind. The fees only keeps rising as the years go by due to inflation but still it's comparatively affordable due to it being a govt. college
Campus Life
I had a lively and dynamic life on the campus to say the least. The acitivites inlcuded annual tech-fest and annual cultural fests in which many celebs were invited on an yearly basis. There were also many clubs formed by students enhancing social relations and mutual passions
Admission
I also to applied to IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras and NITJamshedpur. Based on the factors above, I had chosen my college in terms of quality education and cheaper fees as well as the student friendly environment. A lot of tother colleges failed to make an impression on me. The documents required for the admission criteria included Class 12 marksheets, passing in class 12 and good ranks in JEE Main.
Faculty
The facilities of our college included a good faculty-student ratio that enhances the learning in our institution. The topics are grouped in certain courses, and the tests check the subjects knowledge. In essence, the levels of challenge differs with about 15-20% of exams generally being failed. It also focuses on student's skills, thus remaining indispensable to prepare learners for future difficulties.
Interview Experience
Yes, I had GD, Interview and written test as part of my admission process. The GD was held under the topic of leadership qualities of the GD topic. While in the interview, the questions asked revelated more about my skills and interests; the test revolved more around my aptitude and reasoning prowess. To prepare i read newspapers, got involved in group discussions and solved sample test papers.
Night Life
There is equally an active night life on Campus including some coffee shops, restaurants as well as entertainment centers. While at the same time, gym and the library are closed at some certain times and this will require the student to make some adjustments. Hostels for instance have curtailed bed timings, on the other hand, students spend a lot of time in the campus, even at night. Actually, the student centter as well as the close around the campus are the informal places. The area is relatively safe, therefore allowing students to relax after classes
