Course Curriculum Overview
This course has good future aspects. The course work is light and does not cause much stress. There are also a lot of government jobs in this branch. The course prepares the students for real world challenges like designing roads, buildings, pavements, bridges etc. The course should focus more on project-based learning with less focus on mugging up answers. The quizzes are conucted every month along with a mid semester exam and an end semester exam. The quizzes are of low difficulty and the semester exams are generally a liitle harder.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees includes Rs.1,19,000 tution fees and Rs40,000 hostel fees. The students of SC/ST community do not have to pay tution fees. Also the tution fees is waved off for students of EWS sections. The students can also apply for students loans from the SBI branch in the campus. Some students also take odd jobs like tution teachers for some financial assistance.
Campus Life
The annual cultural fest is Rendezvous and annual techinical fest is Tryst. Rendezvous is held in March and Tryst in October. The library has a long list of books including literature, journals and course books. The classrooms have a projector and all classroms are air conditioned. The classrooms are designed to allow the professors voice to reach uniformly. Every year a competition is conducted between hostels in various sports like chess, table tennis, badminton, cricket,football.
Admission
Admission is through JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exams. The cutoff for IIT Delhi is around 10000 in CRL. The JEE Mains exam is conducted twice a year, once in January and once in March. JEE Advanced is conducted in the month of July. The students who clear JEE Mains cutoff are eligible for JEE Advanced. The counselling is done on JoSSA website. The admission process should also include an interview process and essay writing like those done in foreign colleges.
