What Students Say
Likes
- The best thing in college is it's infrastructure. It has a top notch classrooms equipment with very good seating
- There are also a lot of clubs which you can take part in. Mostly the cultural clubs are active, the tech clubs are mostly dead.
- Placement team is also good. They try a lot to bring a lot of companies and make sure everyone gets placed.
Dislikes
- The teaching staff and professors are not up to the mark. In the whole 4 years of Btech
- There is also no start-up culture. Everyone just wants to do DSA and get placed in a company. Teachers also don't encourage for start-ups
- The non-teaching staff is very rude and arrogant. They create a lot of problems if a student needs something from academics department
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum does not offer much choice to choose subjects. Some of the courses are compulsory which need to be taken. In first and second year there is no choice for taking subjects. 3rd year onwards some electives are offered but still there is no full freedom because around 12-15 electives are given from which you can choose 2-3. But the college can't run all the courses so they take to top 2 or sometimes top 3 courses which are most voted through a google form. And then everyone has to take those courses. Apart from this there is BTP which is BTech Project of 4 credits in 7th semester and 8 credits BTP in 8th semester. Everyone needs to make a group of 2-3 students and they will be assigned a professor.
Internships Opportunities
Some companies which visited college for internships are as follows Google: 1.25L stipend Microsoft: 1.25L stipend Uber: 1.88L stipend Salesforce: 1.5L stipend Sprinkle: 2L stipend Atlassian: 1.25L stipend Estee Advisors: 1L stipend Wells Fargo: 1L stipend Samsung: 50k stipend All the above are for summer internship and these companies come for technical roles. Projects depend on company to company but are quite good one with hands on experience. Most of the students get a Pre placement Offer after completing their internships.
Placement Experience
After internship season gets over, placement season starts with starting from 7th semester. At the start a lot of good product based companies visit and gradually the package offered start decreasing. The placement season lasts for full one year and around 90-95% students get placed. Highest package - 80LPA (Atlassian) Average Package - 20LPA Some top companies which visit on campus - Google, Microsoft, Apple, Atlassian, Sprinklr, NVIDIA, Tower Research, Estee Advisors, PhonePe, Intuit, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Samsung, Texas Instruments, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fees which I paid is as follows: 1st year : 219000 2nd year: 228000 3rd year: 234000 4th year: 240000 Therefore, the total fees for completing the BTech was 921000. This fees include tuition fees and institute fee. The fees is same for all category students such as General, OBC, SC and ST. Females also pay the same fees. There are various scholarships which you can opt during the college time. CVSPK is a scholarship run by the NSUT. It gives scholarship on 3 conditions 1. Top 5% in department in a year. 2. Death of earning parent while studying 3. Financially weaker students. Apart from this there are scholarships run by government such as MCM, PMS-SC, PMS-OBC PM-Yashasvi.
Campus Life
There is one Cultural Fest called Moksha. It is very famous and one of the top fests in North India. A lot of good artists come and perform here. It is open for all college students so usually a very huge crowd come as entry is free for all. It is held in usually late March or early April. Another fest is Resonance which is a cultural-technical fest held during October. Sometimes it also gets cancelled due to lack of funds as there are very few sponsors. This is only for NSUT students. Artists also come and hackathons and a lot events are also organized during this. Facilities are good in classrooms. WiFi speed is good, sockets are present with every seat in all classrooms. All classrooms have ACs projectors and speakers along with podium with mic. There are a lot of student run clubs although only cultural clubs are active ones while technical clubs are dead.
Admission
The main reason for joining this college was proximity from my home. Another option was DTU but it had a 2 hour journey from my home whearas NSUT had 1 hour journey. Both colleges are almost same and placements are also almost same. If someone is choosing between these colleges then distance should be a major factor. If someone is from outside Delhi then for coding culture you should join NSUT while for fun and fests, you should join DTU.
Faculty
The faculty-to- student ratio would be around 1-50. This is in consideration with TAs (Teaching Assistant) who are usually very less paid PhD or MTech students. Professors assign their own duties to them such as taking Labs, checking papers, sometimes taking lecture. Some professors are approachable when you have genuine doubts or require some help. In a semester there are 4-5 subjects. Each subject has 1 endsem, 1 midsem, 2 class tests which sometimes are not taken depending on the professors. And generally these CTs are taken on Google forms with MCQs and are very easy to cheat. Exams are easy to pass. Someone with a good IQ can easily score good marks just by studying one night before exams.
Night Life
There is not much nightlife in or around college campus. Hostels have curfew time of 10 pm after which entry is not allowed. Gym is there with a lot of new machines as it was recently renovated. Cafeteria gets closed in night and is also not a good one. Amul was a famous hangout place but got closed and then a new one got opened at a different location. Outside college there is a shop called Chill point which is very famous and a usual place for smokers.
