IIM Jammu-A Riveting Review

Choosing MBA was a wise decision because it upgraded my level of thinking in a strategic way.Mainly in IIMs there is case study based learning which mainly make you learn about the root cause of the problem & analyzing the issue then proceeding with with many ways which will lead you to the desired solutions.This approach make us comfortable with the managerial aspect of learning.Usually we have to study the case & approach it in the way of business prespective.This helps us in considering all the views or options before coming to a solution.Although one thing that can be improvised can be is focusing on more group discussion from all students & collaborative problem solving among students.In IIMs we have trimester system.We appear for midterm as well as endterm which comprises of case study based exams & also we are evaluated on the basis of our projects & class presentation.

The placement scenario in IIM is at par.Placements for summer internship starts just after one month after joining.And for the final placement it usually starts since the beginning of 2nd year.There a n no. of companies which has visited IIMJ few of them are Microsoft, Deloitte, EY,De'shaw,V-guard, Mahindra, Havells,etc.The offer is made for roles like sales & marketing,product management,finance,supply chain,consulting & many more.The highest package varies every year last year it was 64 lpa & average is 15 lpa.There is 100% placement for students.Placement is still good although market is not in a good condition.

The total course fee for MBA for 2 years is 17,50,000.This comprises of both tution fee as well as the hostel fee.The mess fee is excluded but it's affordable.There is scholarship for reserved category as well as general category students based on need & merit based,which can be availed after joining the college.Certain scholarships are conveyed from the college side to the students who are performing well in the college.Students can also avail loan if they face any difficulty regarding fees.

The campus life in IIM Jammu is amazing.You will get a chance to interact with peers from different domain which will help you to understand the diversity of culture as well as the vast knowlege through peer learning.IIM jammu has got an awesome library where the system is automated for the book taking & keeping procedure.Students interested in finance can get seperate Bloomberg terminal for research & study purpose.There are varities of books related to domain as well as others.The classes are basically designed in Havard school style making it attractive as well as the classroom are smart study designed.There are committes & clubs for extracurricular activites which also conduct many events.Besides studies students can enroll in clubs & committes of their interest.The clubs & committes can help in good networking.And once in a year Empyrean feast is being conducted which is a grand feast of IIM Jammu.And all the festivals and events are conducted in a grand way.

MBA students in IIM Jammu are alloted single room with basic amenities,hostels are cleaned everyday for that workers are being provided.The mess is near to hostel the menu is set considering the students coming from diverse background & locations.Every month there is a change in menu considering student's opinion.As MBA is a residential program in IIM Jammu so its mandatory to stay inside the campus,no students can rent a pg outside.The process of registration for hostel is done on the day of admission & its included in the course fees.

For getting into IIM for MBA candidate must first appear in CAT Exam & for that eligibility is candidate should have minimum 50% in their bachelor's.The form is available in CAT's offical website.The application fee is 2400Rs but there can be a variation.The application date fillup starts around August & continues till mid september.There is reservation for SC,ST,OBC,EWS &PWD candidate's which can be availed during the admission process.CAT exam is conducted once in a year & it is conducted in 3 slots (morning,afternoon &evening) & the difficulty level varies everyyear.After qualifying a minimum cutoff the student appear for GD & PI for getting into his/her desired college.There is CAP round in which there is admission for new & baby IIMs.Some IIMs & B schools take fees for the admission process but this should not be the case as students are already spending money on fees & I feel they can take a specific fixed amount after the student get selected for that college.

Group discussion,Interview &WAT are commonly conducted for admission into IIMs,but students going for CAP only have to pass the interview.GD topics are mainly related to current happenings & recent news.Interview questions are mainly asked from your bachleor's background as well as recent news.Some random questions may also be asked from any detail mentioned in CV.For WAT it better to practice writing related to topics regarding economics or something which is relevant & trending in business domain.I prefered preparing from Youtube & Shweta Arora's videos helped alot clearly my interview.I also had a group for practicing GD which was quite helpful for getting into IIM.
