Remarks
Based on my MAT score which was good enough to land me offers from various renowned B-Schools (mostly private), I applied only for The Business School, Jammu University. The reasons being : It has a legacy of creating world-class management professionals and an institute that offers NBA and NAAC accredited MBA courses. Being a government Institute, it offers one of the best Return on Investment(ROI) values in North India with a nominal fee structure that even a student belonging to a middle-class family can afford. The Minimum Educational Qualification for taking admission in an MBA course here is Graduation in any stream from a recognized institute. (For more details, see brochure online on TBS official website). The admission process was smooth and consists of GD/PI and Document Verification.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum at TBS is updated as per the industry standards. The faculty at TBS consists of doctorates who are masters in their respective domains. They have proven research credentials and have national and international exposure and connections. The term examinations are conducted timely and they are designed in a manner to test one's theoretical as well as applied knowledge.
Internships Opportunities
Apart from receiving internship opportunities from government regulatory bodies such as RBI and NABARD with an excellent stipend, students also receive offers from corporate entities such as HDFC Bank, ITC, Airtel among others with decent stipends.
Placement Experience
As mentioned earlier, TBS has strong industry collaborations with various elite corporate entities visiting here to offer campus placements to students. The students become eligible to sit for campus placements in Semester Third only. A good number of students receive placement offers making TBS the first choice of students who want to pursue an MBA in Jammu.
Fees and Financial Aid
* As mentioned earlier, the fee structure is quite nominal; say Rs. 85,000/- for two years. * There are scholarships available for students under CSSS, Social welfare department scholarships, minority scholarships among others. However, a student has to apply for it on their own and get it verified from the department. * There are campus placements for internships as well as full time job offers with good annual packages. Major recruiters include ICICI Prudential, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Airtel, ITC, Jaro, BYJUS, SBI Life Insurance among others.
Campus Life
The campus of TBS is lush-green with spacious classrooms equipped with modern ICT devices. All classrooms are fully air-conditioned as well. There is a Central Library known as 'Dhanvantri' which is one of the biggest libraries in North India. However, TBS has its own well-stocked library with a comfortable sitting arrangement. The campus life at TBS is enriching owing to several events happening here. - Youtharva, the annual fest by TBS is a great learning experience for all the participating students. - Debates organized by RBI and AIMA workshops also add to students' grooming. - The clubs at TBS include Management Club and Placement Club which handle the affairs allotted to them accordingly.
Interview Experience
* The admission process starts with applying online for admission. * After that, you'll receive an email regarding the date and time of DV and GD/PI. The topic for my GD was 'Globalisation'. It was a general topic and I presented it with ease. * Next was PI where the panel asked me to introduce myself first and then they asked me questions about my choice, of course, my interests and some conceptual questions regarding my graduation stream.
