IIM Jammu Review

I chose this college as I liked the campus because where it is located that is known as the heaven of India. As we know Jammu & Kashmir's climate is very awesome and the college is near to the city, the airport and they offer the best foreign exchange program that helps in studying abroad.

The course curriculum is based on the Trisemester Pattern which means 3 terms in a year and a total of 6 terms in 2 years. There are also some midterms, internal and projects included in the curriculum. The subjects are the same as the other IIMs except for the Marketing course. Faculties are very much cooperative towards students. They are well qualified, experienced with Ph.D. and industrial exposure. Also, some of the faculties are from reputed institutes like IIM Kolkata and sometimes guest professors are called for the special classes.

I got into the summer internship recently, but that has just started which I will explore more in the near future.

Considering it as a new generation IIM, it is growing drastically. And I would say in spite of having a huge batch size the ratio of students placed, the placement scenario is quite good. In the final placement, the salary offered is decent, as the median salary is around 12 - 13 lakhs, the highest salary is 18 -20 lakhs. And also the salary package can be low depends on your performance and the profile you are from but you get enough opportunity here to sit in the placements in every domain.

The fee structure is 13 - 14 lakhs that are mentioned on the college website. And there are scholarships for needy people who come from a poor background and this college also provides scholarships to the topper of the batch who performs exceptionally well. And you can also avail of loans as per your requirement because banks will approach the loan while admission. And you get decent job opportunities in every domain in this college.

As the campus is located in Jammu so the environment of the college is scenic with mountains around. And speaking about the club and social life, I missed a few events because of the pandemic as we were taking online classes, but got to meet people from diverse backgrounds online and got their experience. Currently, I am serving as a member of the placement preparation committee in the institute which is one of the top committees in IIMs.

Unfortunately, I haven't experienced the hostel life yet because of the pandemic, and I am studying online from staying at home. But there are clubs in various departments like Marketing Club, Operation Club, HR club, Music Club, library as they mentioned in the fees structure.

In the interview, they asked me about myself as an introduction, then their questions are followed as that why I chose MBA, few general knowledge questions then as I had job experience of 24 months, so they asked about that as well. Basically, they check the personality traits, the confidence level, and your way of speaking. Then I got a topic on women empowerment in GD. So then, I prepared my mind and body gesture to take the initiative with an introduction on that topic and discussed few things about that topic with some pros and cons and concluded in a positive way with some opinions and suggestions.
