Remarks

The college infrastructure is not much good that must be for a NIT even the authority is not in the positive mindset of improving that.

Entrance Preview

I have to appear in jee mains and scored 155 marks in that .as a result I got an all India rank 23396 which was enough to get mechanical engineering in NITS .

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Like in the first year we can't expect that there will be more practicals than theory .it was all theory in the first year having lab works like physics, chemistry. The courses are common for all the branches in the first year.in the coming years, we will get exposure to different kind of course related studies and also more practicals

Internships Opportunities

Yes, of course, different companies visit in our college and provide internships to the students of the second and third year of study .talking about the stipend it is about 5-6 k per month and good companies like Oracle, Tata motors provide internships So the experience seniors gain may also be great

Placement Experience

4

Different MNC s and PSUs visit our college giving high-level packages to fourth-year guys. The cs guys get 2-3 job offerings so that's really great but this is not the scenario for core branches .getting one job offer for them get difficult for them .this placement season highest package is 22 lpa grabbed by a cs guy .this years placement for mechanical guys went great 8 guys got 17 lpa in BPCL. average package Here is almost 5 lpa.

College Events

5

There are three major events organized in the college they are annual technical fest"tecnoesis" in the month September, annual cultural fest "incandescence" in late February and one regional fest "posua " In the month April.T eams from the different college of northeast participate in different technical events in tecnoesis.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure almost the same as in all other NITs. Hostelers have to pay around 14k per semester including the mess and accommodation charge. And the tuition fee is around 80k per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan service by sbi is available easily available for your four years of study .there are also scholarships available remarkable is the ishan udoy scholarship scheme for Northeastern students where your full college fees will be paid under the scholarship scheme.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus is great with serene beauty and greenary all around the campus .if you want to feel peace go somewhere in the lakeside and get relaxed for a while. The gender ratio is not at all good male female ratio is 12:1 which is surely a desperate thing for the male students.

Alumni/Alumna

Talking about the senior students they are quite friendly and helpful .they are helpful if you behave decently with them .there is nothing like ragging kind of thing in the campus so don't get worried about that at all.

Exam Structure

Exams structure is like 100 marks in each subject is divided as 50+30+20.50 for end sems 30 mid sem 10 for attendance and 10 for class tests .lab schedule is also well planned so there is no hedeache for our class timings and exam timings.

Admission

.Before the admissions there was a reporting kind of thing by jossa after the first round of counselling .so I reported there in the reporting center at NIT agartala .after that I came to know that I have got NIT silchar in the last round of counselling 2 days before the admission getting started.so I was there in the college on 24 th July with all the documents ready ,money being paid .The admission process took a day long time filling up this stuff that stuff .and finally in the afternoon I was done with the admission process ..

Faculty

3.5

The level of faculties was not as my expectations .like getting admission to an institution of national importance and expecting that kind of faculties surely disappoint one. hope so when we will be in the further year of studies we will get better faculties

Placement Experience:

Placements are not really good in our college, it is more of a research institute so it mainly focuses on PhD as PhD strength is good. Higher education is more prefered here but placement scenario is also good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
