Course Curriculum Overview

I am persuing B.Tech(CSE) course because I am fond of this subject . Faculty members of our Department are highly qualified and very expert in their respective field and they are very helpful .Generally term exams held in time and not much difficult to pass.

Internships Opportunities

There is number of internships opportunities available for students to expand knowledge in different domain like Cyber security, Web development , Machine Learning etc . Students are doing internship in Microsoft, Amazon, Media.net etc.

Placement Experience

Generally students can apply for oncampus internship from 5th semester. From 7th semester student can apply for college campus drive. Average packege is 8.5 LPA and highest package is 62 LPA .Almost 95% of students get placed every year.

Fees and Financial Aid

As it is a Government College fees are affordable .There are scholarship opportunity like SVMCM, OASIS and alumni scholarship . Student credit card scheme to support the students regarding their annual expenditure.

Campus Life

"JECLAT" is the annual fest and "SRISTI" is the tech fest of our college generally held in april and september month respectively in every year. Music , Drama, Sports, Art, CFI, Dance, Cyber Security and Coders clubs are there which are run by senior students. There is a GYM centre in the college campus.

Admission

To get addmission into Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College one must pass WBJEE with good rank after passing 12th board exam with minimum 45% or 40% marks for ST/SC (pure science). Citizen of west bengal get benefit of state qouta . All the information regarding admission process can be found in JGEC official website and WBJEE official website.

Placement Experience:

Well as far as mh knowledge students get to placements from 6th semester itself . Well there are placement classes from 3rd semester itself . The placement track record of the college is quite good with most year about 90% gets placed with good companies comming like Deloitte, EY GDS , JP MORGAN, Oracle , offering high amount of placement offers like around 20+ lpa . Well I am not sure about my plans maybe if the palacement is good I'll take it or will be preparing for GATE (Whose courses are also provided from college .)

GOOD College at low fees.

Placement Experience:

Placement of my college are quite good with a avg package of 6 to 7 lpa and higest package of 45 lpa and this year the higest package is 75 lpa. The companies visited in my college are infosys, Capgemini,tcs,wipro, Mindtree,IBM, sometimes amazon also.The placement rate of the college is 85 to 95%.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the cirricullum is quite relevent and comprehensive . BTECH program especially CSE includes specializations like data sciene , cybersecurity, IOT, etc . Exams are held twice in a semester . the college could include hand on learning through workshop , industry project and interships .

our college average package is 600000 per Anum and highest package is 1800000 per Anum according to recent data. and 80% of student got placed . And wipro , windows, tcs , siemens , tata like companies come to our college for placement. Core students are also got placed but many of them goes for hihger studies.

Placement Experience:

From the 3rd year onwards , students become eligible for internships and stepping in 4th yr , students get eligible for campus placement. Techno provides decent campus placements according to your marks. Good marks also with skills get you better salary. Minimum 7.5 cgpa is mandatory to have you sit for campus placements. The lowest package is 3.4 LPA and highest vary but students also get 14LPA easily. Wipro, tcs ,cap ,gemini, amazon , ibm etc.

Placement Experience:

After 6th semester student become eligible for the campus placements. Amul(GCMF) , Mother Dairy, Vidya Dairy, Bhagirathi cooperative, Wamul, ITC are the company's visited and they provide good packages according to the students work in interview. After getting the degree I would pursue my hair studies in Mtech Food Technology from IIT or go to MBA course from IIM. My main goal is to get NDRI National Dairy Research Institute which is top institute for imparting dairy and veterinary courses for MTech Dairy Technology. 70 to 80% of the students are being placed and the packages very from 20 lakh per anum to 40 lakh per annum. After getting BTech degree most of the students preferred to go for higher studies and job. Research line is open for our course. Most girls prefer higher studies and research line and most boys prefer for job.

The highest salary package offered is 10 LPA, the lowest salary package offered is 3 LPA and the average salary package offered is 5 LPA. The top recruiting companies of our college are Amul, Mother Dairy, Red Cow, Metro, ITC, Thackers, TCS etc. Students can get various types of jobs like dairy development officer, dairy technologist, farm manager etc.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

I did applied for the Jadavpur University but I didn't get an opportunity there . But it was my and my father's wish that I study near my home and as JGEC is not so far from my home I confirmed the seat here. Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
