The hostel life is amazing and student from all over westbengal is present who ranked in the wbjee exam
The education environment is fabulous and resources are plentiful
The exposure to both education field and extracurricular activity are fabulous and amazing

Dislikes

The hostel living consider is moderaate and can be improved
The labs can be improve and equipments in lab can be improved
The food quality and menus can be more vibrant in nature

Course Curriculum Overview

Term exam occurs timely and paper are checked wisely without any duplemecy and its is moderately good and question are only from the topics taught in the class so i would give a rating 7.5 out of 10 in examination

Internships Opportunities

Internship in my filed of study only can be given aferfinising 6th sem and it well organised by the college and some arepaid and some are non paid but the exposure experience is good and since the company for internship are those company where our alumni works so its less hectic and more for knowledge gathering in nature

Placements are average since its a tire 3 college but better than most other tire 3 college ,since the placement cell consist of student and 1 administration selected traning placement officer ,still improvent arebeing done and our placement rate is 98 percentage for all department anad avg package is 4.5lpa and highest is 63lpa.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees structure is good and affordable and there is no hike in fees and as i dont require any scholarship so i dont receive any but scholarship is given to those who really need it . As government engineering college it best for middle class famaily

Campus Life

There are 2 fest first cultural fest jeclat and tech fest sristi . Both the events are organised by the clubs like the cultural club for cultural fest and technical club for technjcal fest . All the club are runed by the students

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facilitie is moderate and food is edable and protenecious but improvement can be done menus are great i live in hostel and registration process is easy and simple for any one who fills it also hostels are moderate

Hostel Fee: INR 32000 per year

Admission

Giving westbengal jointentrance examination ,and ranking a all india rank under 6000 we get an opportunity to persue b tech in Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College,no improvement is required in the admission process only if the reservation quota is removed

Unbiased Review of JGEC

Placement Experience:

At JGEC,campus placements begin mostly from the 6th/final year semester,when students become eligible .I recent years many well-known companies have visited such as Pinnacle Infotech,Synnova Gears & Transmissions Pvt.Ltd,,TCS,Jyesta corporate Entity and many more.The highest package was around 54 LPA form Google ,While the overall average is 10.2LPA.Many students also take internships, industrial training or prepare for higher studies(GATE) rather than accepting direct placement immediately.The exact percentage of student getting palcement is no where.But last year the percentage placed is 70%.

Placement opportunities are overall good, students can apply for the placement form 5th and 6th semester and can get PPOs's companies like Microsoft, google, amazon comes during the placement season and every year, so many students get placed even with a package greater than 2cr INR. The average package is around 18 Lakhs.

Placement Experience:

Overall the placement percentage of the college is good for both the core and non-core courses almost near 90%. All the students in there 3rd year i.e. in their 5th or 6th semester are elegible for campus placements. A few companies which visit the college are TCS, WIPRO, TECH MAHINDRA, INFOSYS, IBM, COGNIZANT, HUL, HCL, INDIAN OIL, MITSUBSHI, NJ INDIA, D-POWER,ETC. all the companies offer placement. highest on-campus package = inr 33 lakh where as the average is around 6lpa. After the degree, I plan to get a good placement in a core company and opt for GATE.

From 8th semester the students get eligible for campus placements . Some good companies like TCS Capgemini Infosys visited campus . Amazon also visited our campus the highest package is about 22 lakhs and average packages 5.5 lakh . about 80% student of CSE , IT and ECE branches get placed.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

I did applied for the Jadavpur University but I didn't get an opportunity there . According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
