Filled with Art and Culture. Student Run Clubs are varied and has a lot of options for everyone.
Placement Opportunities are great and has a phenomenal placement cell.

Dislikes

The distance of the Jadavpur Campus and SL campus is a lot.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course since Power Engineering in JU is a NBA Accredited Circuital Branch with good placement opportunities. The faculty student ratio is good and most of the faculty are great and teach very well. One teacher of the power Engineering department has been awarded Bharat Ratna and one teacher, Prof. Amitava Dutta is the Pro VC of the university. The Faculty of our department were also involved in ISRO's Chandrayaan missions. Term exams are not very easy nor very difficult.

Class Size: 58Course Fees: INR 2400 per year

Internships Opportunities

A lot of core companies (like CESC), IT Companies (like Amazon) and Consultancy companies offer internships here with a very good stipend. They also offer Pre Placement Offers (PPOs) to the good interns and students.

Placement Experience

Students are eligible for internships from 2nd year itself and campus placements from 3rd year itself. A lot of big companies - Amazon, Google, Hotstar, Wipro, GoldmannSachs etc. recruit from our college and allow all circuital departments including power Engineering. This year's placement stats might be a little less due to recession but overall JU has a great placement cell with a 96% placement rate.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is very well made and kept in mind and the fees is very less but gives you an insane placement package so JU definitely gives the best Return on Investment in India amongst all other colleges.

Campus Life

One con (maybe a pro for others) of the Power Engineering department is that it is in the JU Salt Lake Campus which is a little quite in terms of cultural activities. But JU in itself is a cultural hub and has fests almost all throughout the year. There are a lot of sports events too and the SL campus has a CAB maintained sports ground were India team players are often seen. Both the Campus librarires are great and there are a lot of student run clubs and events throughout the entire college span.

Admission

I appeared for WBJEE Exam and got 1132 AIR. Application Process is using the WBJEE website. One improvement that should be made in the WBJEE examination that it can be made Computer Based like JEE Mains.

Placement Experience:

1)From 6th semester students become eligible for campus placement. 2) Cognizant , TCS(most fav), Wipro, startups, IBM visit for recruitment . 3)In 2023 highest was 45lpa by amazon average is 4.5lpa. 4)From our Hostel each and every senior get placed. some with good package like tcs digital, even off campus (2025). 5)My plan is to take a job and enter in IT firm to learn and teach new technolgies through my YOUTUBE.

Placement Experience:

From 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements and there are plenty of companies that come like in my branch there 35-40 companies (core) came and no of offers were 30.Placement percentage was around 95%.Median package was around 7.5lpa and highest was 15lpa.Well my plans are not decided yet, currently in my 2nd year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally i opted for electrical and electronics instead of the branch of my choice is because my scores were not enough to secure a seat in CSE. But EEE is pretty cool as well for those willing to grow in this branch. Our curriculum exposes us to the rapidly growing sectors in the industry and educates us of all we need to know about the course in depth. If you want to continue ahead in a research field, this Institute is the most supportive. The exam questions are also relevant enough and considering we only need to actually stress over end semesters, its fair enough per semester. It would be better if our professors removed the attendance criteria rest im fine with everything else

Like my main was getting to IIT which I couldn't as U couldn't clear JEE advanced.So my next option was to choose between NITS and JU.So clearly choose JU because it completes our BE in 10k whereas the fees of NITs are really high.So as I gave JEE in 2024 my jee main rank was something around 64K (95.5 percentile) and my wbjee rank was 2341 and got alloted food Technology and biochemical engineering in jadavpur university.The process to get into our college is to give wbjee and if u are a general your rank should be within 2500 to get into this premium college....Read More

Homebound Forward with Jadavpur University

I have always wanted to study in Jadavpur University in one of their literature departments since I was a kid. This was a way of achieving a tiny dream of mine. Moreover, the Comparative Literature Department is the best in all entire Asia and the first one in the country. I wanted to experience the greatness of this course and how the canons of this literature were formed here. It is also the topmost State Public University and 9th in NIRF I wanted to be a part of an institution that could be great to this extent. The admission took place on the basis of a merit-based entrance examination. The seats are limited; therefore, only the top 15 students out of almost 800-1000 who appeared for the exam were selected. The Pros and Cons of Joining Jadavpur University Masters of Arts in Economics

1) I applied for Delhi School of Economics, however couldn't manage an admission due to the extreme cutoff on CUET exam for the same. I had confirmed admission from North Bengal University, however it was not feasible since I had a choice in Jadavpur University. Jadavpur University has the best rank among all other colleges I had a confirmed admission to, so I chose this University. 2) I wanted to study in Delhi School of Economics, but couldn't make it there due to the extensive cutoff in CUET which I unfortunately couldn't clear. 3) Jadavpur University conducts its own internal exam for admission into its esteemed Masters of Arts [M.A.] programme. However one can get through by CUET exams as well, however that needs a decent score.
