Course Curriculum Overview

I had a knack for coding and technology so I wanted to choose this course. Also, IT is booming in India with a lot of opportunities. The teachers are friendly and teach really well. The ratio of faculty: to students is 1:20 which is impressive as well. Faculty are highly qualified with multiple research papers in their name and explain concepts very well. Exams are uncomfortably frequent with 4 class assessments and 2 practical lab exams with Viva before the semester exam and while passing isn't difficult, getting a decent cgpa certainly is.

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities are new and starting from the 2024 batch so we do not have any data. Our college is inviting internship drives for the SDE and SWE roles. I did not have an internship opportunity from college. Research projects are available under faculty guidance.

Placement Experience

Students become eligible from the 6th semester to sit for placements. We had companies like NRI fintech, Hexaware, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, Kreeti Technology, and more with 80+ total offers made. The highest package was 7lpa and the average package was 4.5lpa. About 80% of the students who opted for placements were placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of my course were very affordable. Only 6k per semester. I didn't avail any scholarships or financial aid. The placement was good with the highest on-campus offer being 7 lpa and median offer being 5 lpa. We have multiple MNCs visiting us regularly. Very good return on investment.

Campus Life

Annual fest Resurrection happens every year in March and tech fest Enginerds happen in September. Our Library is one of the best with a vast collection of books and journals and a large reading space. Classrooms have all the basic amenities with a projector too. Our campus covers a football ground and volleyball court too. We also have coding clubs in our college with regular extra classes taken up by students and contests.

Admission

I took and cleared WBJEE which is a PCM-based entrance exam. Details on the dates of WBJEE can be found on their official website. Being a general candidate I did not avail of reservation benefits and secured a CS branch with a WBJEE rank of 3300.

Placement Experience:

The placement situation at IIT KGP is one of th e best among Engineering Colleges in India. With an average package of around 2200000 and overall placement percentage of around 80 (B.Tech+M.Tech). Students become eligible for placement either if they get PPO(Pre Placement Offer) from the company they are interning in in the 5th semester or when they are in the 7th semester when placement season begins. Around 1800 offers and 400 PPOs were made in phase 1 which includes 25 international offers. There were around 400 companies that visited. The highest offer was 21400000. Top profiles are Software, Data, Finance, Consulting, Quant and Core.

The curriculum under MAKAUT is quite comprehensive, which is one of the reasons I choose this course. With making the foundation strong in first year with subjects like maths, physics, chemistry and then the core subjects in the later years. Before the placements were good enough like both on-campus and off-campus. The college really tried hard each year for placement offers and as i have heard from the seniors, it was quite good. But in recent times, there are literally no placement offers and even the college has given up. TPO that should manage such oppurtunities are of no good and they are not even trying a bit to bring it some companies for the placement rounds. Now only if you are good enough and know enough to crack off-campus placements, then its good.

I read in CSE(AIML) AI ML perspective and couse curriculam inluenced me to admit in college. Teachers often make real-world applications gor any pariculatr topic. I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The structure of curriculum is not so great. Definitely there is a scope for improvement . We are under MAKAUT university and through job readiness perspective the structure of curriculum is below average. The placement in this college is good . In our department ( Food Technology) . The Faculties are trying to provide us 100% placement. As a result 70% students are already get placement. But being a girl it's little bit difficult to get a good placement because the industries mostly want male candidates so that they can do shift works .

At first, I complete my 12th exam in science. Then I attended the WBJEE exam. After I good score on the WBJEE exam then I go to the counseling process.
