Remarks

Overall college is very good for study and placements as well as for research and other activities. Campus is very beautiful consisting a lot of lakes, weather is very good here, the only bad thing i found is it is located in remote area and not well connected with other parts of country.

Entrance Preview

I had given jee mains exam in 2014 ,at that time 60%percent weighatage was of jee mains score and 40% to board exam, accordingly this i got NIT silchar in counselling and there wae no interview process for admission only cuttoff rank was fallowed. I got electronics and instrumentation according to my rank and priority order which i filled during counseling.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is pretty good and a lot of focus on practical learning, every semester there is 2-3 laboratories of 2 credit. Institute has taken many research initiative, there is a research and innovation cell separately for these activities. Here in final year you will get option to choose elective subjects, till 6th semester you have to study all the subject mentioned in curriculum.

Internships Opportunities

Yes college provide internship, experience was good. Most of the time you will get a internship in psu where you will not get any stipend. To get a good internship you have to apply by yourself.

Major companies visited here are Goldman Sachs, directi, medlife, wells fargo, Mahindra and Mahindra, maruti suzuki, john deere, ashok leyland,mu sigma,l&t,vedanta, tata motors etc. The average package is around 5 lakhs.

College Events

4.5

Technical fest is organized every year in month of October called Tecnoesis for four days in which a lot of events organized like robo wars, school champion, quizzes.coding competitions last night followed by a Spark night where few celebrities came and perform. There is a cultural fest called Incandescence organized in last of February every year for 3 days in which a lot of artists come and perform like papa cj, sonu nigam, kumar vishwas etc, last night is for band performance called Thundermarch. Both the events are very big, on average 3 thousands people participate in it.Organization is very good and college authorities also contribute for the same.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Student who admitted till 2015 fees was 70000 per year but after that MHRD increased it to 1.25 lakh per year for General and OBC students. For SC and ST there is no fee now. You can easily get loan here so fee should not be a concern here.

Campus Life

5

I participated in many extracurriculam activities, got a lot of exposure and explored my inner talent whether it is a sports like badminton cricket or participation in debate and workshops etc. Facilities are good for same.

Hostel Facilities

3

I am residing i hostel and now i got a single room. In first and second year you have to share a triple or double room but after that according to your pointer you will get a single room and in final year everyone will get a single room. I had to pay 13000 per semester for hostel, and food is not upto the mark, you will get average, for non vegetarian little bit good but for vegetarians it is very bad.

Alumni/Alumna

There is an alumni cell named Rexian NIT Silchar alumni association which organizes alumni meet every year in month of November. I also interacted with my few alumni and gained a lot of knowledge. Few of them also contributed in development of college and students.

Exam Structure

Sometimes it makes me tired but overall cultere is not so hectic and pressure is very low here. Exams conducted two times in a semester and between those exam there will be two minor class test.

Faculty

4

Faculty is very much qualified,90 percent of professors, assistant professor, associate professors are Phd holder and completed many research papers and well aware about courses, course design is also very good, every time i got study material easily. They are also very interactive, you can contact them anytime anywhere. Overall teaching standard is very good now.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

Placements start from 7th semester (4th Year). Companies like Amazon, Legato, TCS, Synopsis, etc. visit for on campus placements. We have a very good placement ratio and average package. For CSE, the average package was 13 LPA and 92% students were placed. While for ECE, the average package was 8 LPA and 66% students were placed. I'm planning on gaining work experience for 2 years after my B.Tech and then pursue MS Or M.Tech from abroad.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
