M.Sc Microbiology In CU Main Campus

I choose this course because I want to do Ph.D. in this domain. If you don't want to opt. for Ph., it's very simple, now a days, M.Sc. becomes a minimum need to find a job in this domain. On CU's main campus, there is a total of 17 students, so you can understand that you can reach your teachers so easily to get any recommendation or anything you need. The faculties are very good, as they are teaching at a recognized University, So, there is no word to express their qualification. On CU's main campus, your own faculties will set up the questions, so, the questions will be from the topics they are teaching. So, getting passing marks is not too difficult if you are from CU's main campus.

In CU, there is no opportunity for home students. But as there is a Summer training mentioned in their core curriculum, CU students approach NICED, IICB, Bose Institute, SINP, etc. Teachers will avail the recommendation. They will also help you if you can't avail to get any Lab.

The cost of study on CU's main campus is very less. You have to spend a total of 16088 rupees for two years, which is affordable. And if you are domiciled in West Bengal, then you will be able to get an SVMCM scholarship, in which you will get 60k in two years.

Campus life is average. Here you will not able to get so many facilities like VITs, or other Private Universities. But every classroom, even the Labs are air-conditioned. Extracurricular activities are less, but available, like carrom, Table Tennis, and Badminton. 1st of all you will not get time to spend on these activities.

I took admission in 2022. In that year there is no entrance exam. Selection is done on the basis of merit, that is, on the basis of marks that you got in your B.Sc. Minimum eligibility was at least 55% marks in B.Sc Hons. in Microbiology or its equivalent. Though competition is very tough. In 2022, the notification was released on 30.08.22, and the admission was taking place from September to November, even after commencing of the class, if there is any seat vacant in any particular domain. The application form will be available in the CU website only. In 2022, there was no application fees. Here, I'm talking about only CU's main campus, not about the affiliated colleges. There is a total of 17 seats available on CU's main campus, out of which 80% is reserved for CU home students and 20% is for Non-CU candidates. Reservation benefits are also available, for CU students (8 seats for UR, 3 for SC, 1 for ST, 1 for OBC-A, 1 for OBC-B), and for Non-CU candidates (2 for UR, 1 for SC).
