Course Curriculum Overview

4

I had and have a great interest in Chemistry subject, hence I took BSc Chemistry and worked on Chemistry and pursuing masters in itself. There are 35 faculty in the department and 65 students in Msc Chemistry 2nd year and another around 70 students in 1st year and around 200 students of PhD present. Each and every faculty is a doctorate from reputed universities and almost all have done post doctorate as well. The teaching method of them is very nice always is based on the feedback of the students. The term exams are felt to be too frequent when it's starting of the college, but later on one student become used to the exams and the pressure. The difficulty of the exams depends on the individual professor.

Internships Opportunities

4

We can apply for internships under our own faculty in chemistry department, which is of no stipend. And some other interships paid or unpaid can be opted through OCS IITD. Regarding the opportunities the OCS IITD frequently conducts sessions and workshops to make students know about of those opportunities.

Placement Experience

3.5

From final year onwards students become eligible for placements. There are lot of companies like Accenture, flipkart, Amazon, HSBC, etc which offer 5-10 students. The highest package was 50lakhs -1Cr and average is 9- 15 LPA. Usually much students get placed from our college. But this year the percentage is very low could be due the firing of freshers and fear of corporate companies to hire freshers. I Will go for the placements which is still going ( second season ).

Fees and Financial Aid

The course fee is normal and affordable it's for us is 9000. But the mess fee is very high for hostellers, initially there was an option to don't opt mess though one student resides in hostel. But now the policy is changed, if one has to stay in hostel, then the student must have to opt the mess as well, though we have a opportunity to choose the mess by our own. The scholarship I am getting is MCM which provides 10000 per semester for student with low annual income.

Campus Life

5

The fests are very frequent in IITD which are required to handle the course pressure. Fests like RDV, Trust etc which are held in the month of March. Almost all books which are needed for our are available in the library. Classrooms are very nice one can understand the class by sitting at any place in the classroom irrespective of the strength. There are inter IIT and inter hostel sports organized every year. There are wellness club, music club, dance club etc which are handled by the students.

Hostel Facilities

2

All the facilities one student need including refrigerator, geaser, Washing machine etc are provided. But rooms of Indraprastha apartments hostel which are provided to us are not as good as the other hostels and also while students in the other hostel having Single rooms, we have to stay in shared rooms. We don't have our own mess or common room or visitor room or Study room as well like other hostels. The meal quality is moderate to poor in the mess we opted that is jwala mukhi hostel, it's same in other hostels as well. Initially it was good, but now the quality has decreased. The mess fee is very high for a normal middle class student. I didn't rent any room, but the students usually stay in jia sarai, ber sarai, katwaria sarai areas for PG.

Admission

We had to write one entrance exam named IIT JAM and the closing for Entering into MSc Chemistry program was 250 for OBC and around 70 for GEN category students (Subjected to change every year) The eligibility of the course was to have a BSc Chemistry ( 3 year course) or to have simply Bsc. We can directly find the application form and fee and dates details from the official IIT JAM website. The reservation details are separate for SC/ST candidates for whom the application fee is zero and for OBC and GEN students the application fee is same for Male candidates whereas it is less for Female candidates. The admission process is quite fine now, to improve it would be better if the whole process goes online instead of half online before qualifying the exam and offline while joining the college, as students from far places find it difficult to be present at the college on time for the admission process.

Avg package is around 9 lpa and highest package is offered 20 lpa for Data science role. About 20 to 30 percent of students are getting placed mostly are chosen for higher studies like phd .
