MDI - a summary

The course curriculum is exhaustive and covers a range of subjects. This course is the best in NCR apart from FMS, and Gurgaon offers a corporate hub as well. Every class has 60-odd students. The faculty is very qualified and come from diverse backgrounds. MDI follows a trimester system and exams are held every 6 weeks (Mid-terms and end-terms). Papers can be open or closed books and are of moderate difficulty.

The average stipend stood at about 1.5L per month and a range of companies from consulting, finance, operations, and marketing came for recruitments. As per pre-placement talks given by companies, the projects offered will be of high value and given due importance.

Final placements occur in the second year while first-years are offered internships for the summer. Over 120 companies visit. Final placement reports for the season are yet to be out, but as per past trends, the average package stands at about 25/26 lakhs per annum. MDI assures 100% placements and offers lucrative positions and future career options.

The fee got hiked this year to about 25 lakhs. Merit cum Means scholarship is given to students who come from economically weaker backgrounds of annual income < 8 lakhs. Other scholarships include the TWF, etc.

The campus life is dreamy. Imperium, the annual fest occurs in February, this year 10-12th Feb. the library is one of the most exhaustive and best in the country. Classrooms are in the form of lecture halls with projectors and smart podiums. Sports activities are galore and continuous events occur with Mandolins, the music vertical stealing the show.

Hostels are adequate with single, double, and triple sharing rooms. We have 3 junior-girls hostels, 1 junior boys hostel; 2 senior girls hostels, and 1 senior boys hostel. The mess is in the boy's hostel itself. Meal quality is good and the Hostel and Mess Committee looks after the same. It's a fully residential campus.

I took the CAT exam in November 2021 and scored 94.49 percentile. I received a shortlist from MDI around mid-February. The applications opened before CAT and fees were around 1000. The PI date I had was for 2nd April 2022. An improvement I would have liked to see is proper and clear communication of dates and prior dissemination of information.

MDI only had a personal interview process this year, and it was online. They mostly revolved around HR questions and certain off-the-beat GK questions. It lasted for 25 minutes for me and the panel consisted of 2 professors and teaching faculty. I prepared by staying up to date with GK topics, reading all about MDI's history and alum base, and preparing strong HR-related answers.
