Course Curriculum Overview
I am fond of Economics, I was clear in 12th itself that I have to go for Economics Hons. The curriculum of the course is really great and designed in a way to give deeper practical knowledge of Economics. Obviously, Economics Hons. is completely maths so one should have a strong grab on Mathematics concepts. The faculty of my college for Economics Hons. is average. They devote their full time to take lectures and try their best to teach in a fun way. But still, they lack practicality. Sometimes lectures get really boring. Although all the teachers are highly qualified and Ph.D. holders. The ratio in our class is 50:50 I.e on average boys' and girls' ratios are the same. There is a semester exam rule at Delhi University, so in total, there are 6 semesters that You have to pass. Exams are really difficult and one must have a good grab on concepts to score good marks in exams. But still, even the last time if you go for the previous year's papers you can expect a good marks.
Internships Opportunities
We get n number of internship opportunities from our placement cell. Manu reputed companies offer internship opportunities like Aim India, Avad, Mindlabz, etc. for different departments or posts like HR, content writing, Business development intern, Graphic design, etc. We get a good amount of stipend starting from a minimum of 2000 a Month It goes up to 20,000 to 25000 differ from company to company and the role they are offering.
Placement Experience
The placement cell of CVS is really very active in order to provide the best company's JD to students for internships and jobs. I am in a college Internship group and a daily minimum of 2-3 Internship opportunities we get in the group for different departments like business development intern, HR, etc. Final-year students can seat in placements. On average package goes up to 6-7 lakh. The highest package was 10,00,000 which one student got from our college. Companies like Deloitte, KPMG, etc. come to college for placements. 70-75% of students got placed in the college itself. If I talk about my plans then I will pursue M.A. (Hons.) Economics, after my under graduation, and side by side I will prepare for Indian Economics service too.
Fees and Financial Aid
Specifically if I talk about my college which is a college of vocational studies and for my course then the fee structure for Economics hons. Is 10,000 INR. As the college is in South Delhi so the cost of accommodation is really high and expensive. If You want to live in PG nearby college itself then it can cost you around 12000-15000 on an average, depends on the different things. So on average expect an expenditure of rupees 25000 including PG, books, daily traveling, etc. especially if you are from the north side of Delhi and Want to take admission in one of the colleges of the south campus. Delhi University provides a number of scholarships from time to time for poor and needy students, one must check DU's website on regular basis. Many companies come to the college for placements and a good amount of students got placed at the college itself. One must be very active and should apply for different internships and jobs to get real-world working experience and shape his/her future.
Campus Life
College life is really great and college life is meant to be life full of enjoyment, fun, learning, and exploring. When we talk about college then how we can not talk about the college fest that is the soul of every college. CVS annual fest is called TATVA, the fest is full of dance, songs, games, fashion, and whatnot. CVS invites many famous singers, youtube famous personalities to its fest that boost the excitement level of students. Annual fest conducted in the Month of February or March. CVS library is one story building and its maintenance is good. One can find all the books of his / her interest specially related to their particular course. Classrooms are big and airy and well maintained if we talk about new buildings but the classes of an old building must need a renovation. Societies of CVS are really very famous in all of DU. TEB, The Entrepreneurial Board of CVS, is a very good society and provides an excellent platform to those students who want to start their own startups.
Admission
I took admission in Delhi University in the year 2021 for B.A. (Hons.) Economics. I got admission to the College Of Vocational Studies. Delhi University, in the first cut-off itself. The cutoff for obc category was 95% and I had 95.7%. Firstly I did my registration, on Delhi University's admission portal, and submitted my necessary documents like aadhar card, 12th mark sheet, obc certificate, and my passport-size photo then I wait for the cutoffs. When the cutoff was released, I checked my eligibility in different colleges for the course of Economics Hons. I chose CVS and registered for the same through the DU portal paid my fees and got my seat reserved. I found the admission process smooth the only thing that troubles me is, that the website of DU sometime doesn't work due to a lot of trafficking.
