Good College with lots of Opportunities

IIIT Pune is an institute of national importance and one has to give JEE-Mains to be eligible to get into this college. As of 2022, a rank of under 17000 will fetch you this COMPUTER SCIENCE and ENGINEERING branch. Once the JEE-Mains results are declared, Josaa Counselling is done where students can fill their preferred college including IIITP. Although there are not any fees for sitting in Josaa counseling, once you are allotted a seat in the college, then you have to pay a seat acceptance fee of 35000 rupees(for general) and 15000(for reserved) if you wish to take that seat. There are not any scholarship or reservation benefits provided by the institute itself, but one can avail of the scholarship from their state or NSP(National Scholarship Portal) if they are eligible. Improvement - if a person has paid the seat acceptance fees but due to some reason has taken admitted to some other college not included in Josaa Counselling then his money should be refunded.

Since Computer Science is the most demanding course these days and has a wide scope, so I chose this course. The faculty-student ratio is approx 1:40 which is quite good. The faculties are duly qualified in their field and are experienced. Some have an exceptional teaching method that makes the subject interesting while others adopt the traditional method of teaching. Overall the teaching method is good. The exams are conducted three times per semester- term 1, term 2, and end-semester exams. The term exams are an hour long while the end sem exams last for 3 hours. As of now, in term examinations, there are exams of two subjects per day and in endsem one subject exam is there per day. If you prepare properly for the exams and start studying well before the exams, they are not that difficult to pass. I would say, if you start preparing two weeks before the exams, you can easily get a decent CGPA. Some exams are lengthy while others we can complete well before time.

Companies such as Groww, yugabyteDB, Yozu, condensation, share chat, ente.io, Atlassian, Nomura, JPMC, and many others companies offer internships for SDE interns, SWE interns, and related roles in our college with stipends ranging from ten thousand to 1.5 lac rupees. There are projects starting from the second year known as BTech Project(BTP) which target to give students industry-level exposure. These projects target a specific problem and we are supposed to develop an efficient and effective solution for that problem statement. Through these projects, students come to know how things work in industries so that they can cope and tackle the problems during their job and become capable of handling these types of situations at the college level itself.

There is not any particular fee hike policy but the institute can increase the fees when required. Recently, it hiked the hostel fees from 24000 per year to 43070 per year which is quite a bad experience. The overall cost to study for 4 years including all your expenses I assume would be around 15 lacs. As I mentioned, the institute itself doesn't provide any scholarships. However, you can avail of your state scholarship schemes (such as UP scholarship (if you are from Uttar Pradesh)) and the National Scholarship Portal(NSP) if you are eligible. Since I'm in second year presently, therefore I'm not yet placed.

Since the permanent campus is yet to be built, therefore the institute is operating from a temporary campus of Singhgad College in Ambegaon, Bundruk. Due to this, there is not any tech or annual fest till now. But the Entrepreneurship Cell of IIITP is quite active and keeps on doing different events from time to time and will hopefully be organizing a fest in the near future. The library is good and we can get all the books required for the course. The classrooms are spacious and have a projector and sound system for the teacher to teach effectively. We have a ground where we can play all sorts of sports including cricket, football, and badminton. There is a table-tennis room in the hostel and a gym is also going to be built in a few months. There are several clubs, the most active being the E-Cell. Other clubs include the coding club(BiT Legion), the musical club(Saaz), the literary club(Eclectic), the dramatic club(Abhinay), and the dance club(vanity crew).
