Remarks

Jadavpur University, ranked 11th in the NIRF rankings 2022 for the Engineering category and 4th in the university category takes in students on the basis of their ranks in the WBJEE examination which generally takes place around the last week of April every year. One has to fill out the online form available on the website of WBJEEB and the college has a 90 percent reservation for candidates domiciled in the state of West Bengal for all the branches.

Course Curriculum Overview

Most of the faculty members are highly qualified and have immense experience and are carrying out research in various fields. 42 faculty members appeared on the list of 2 % of World Scientists published by Stanford University. The Course Structure for CSE is good but can be improved to provide a better learning experience.

Internships Opportunities

Research internship opportunities are available for the students and internships for placements are also available generally in the 3rd year but the internship scenario has room for improvement. Many companies come for internships to the campus and provide PPOs as well.

Placement Experience

The placements in CSE are very good with almost 100 percent placement and most companies like Google, Amazon, etc hire from JU. Students sit for on-campus placements in their third or fourth year generally and the average package lies between 20 to 25 LPA for CSE.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are very less compared to other engineering colleges be they government or private and it is close to 12000 Rupees for the entirety of 4 years and which makes this University one of a kind given the kind of placements it provides in CSE. Hence, JU has the highest return on investment value compared to any other college.

Campus Life

There is a separate library for every department and a central library is there as well which provides a plethora of books, ebooks, and journals. The sports facilities are quite good on the main campus which includes Table Tennis, Football, Basketball, Badminton, etc and the Salt lake campus has professional cricket facilities. There are many clubs like the Science Club, Photography Club, Mountaineering and Hiking Club, etc which are active and organised as well as participate in many events. The classrooms have all the basic facilities required. But the overall infrastructure can be improved. The tech fest is called Srijan which takes place in March every year and the annual fest is Sanskriti.

Placement Experience:

Placements depends on your skills Usually there is a compulsory internship at the end of 3rd year If you didnt get it via college you should do it from outside but its compulsory And at the end of 4th year you get placement. Placemeng isnt 100% . If you have the skill you will get placed thats the criteria.many people say you are in IIT your life is sorted .but that aint the reality

The students can apply for internship via Career Development Centre in the beginning of their pre final Year. they can go for off campus intern whenever they want. Most of the goo companies would come and mostly for software finance consulting etc. The placements start in the second last semester as far as i know. The competition for placement is getting really high these days

I read in CSE(AIML) AI ML perspective and couse curriculam inluenced me to admit in college. Teachers often make real-world applications gor any pariculatr topic. I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

NIT DURGAPUR - A Detailed Breakdown

Placement Experience:

Students generally start getting their pre-placement offers from their 3rd year after completion of their internships other students gets their placement too in their final year. Starting from Apple to Google and Microsoft too hired some of our senior but the number of the students get placed in those tech giant companies is very less but there are mass recruiters too like TCS infosys PW chaitanya education TATA steel BHARAT petroleum and many other companies the offers are made based upon the eligibility of the students and the packages are decided based on the skillset and experience of the students . Highest package was 70 LPA this year and the average packages are also pretty good based upom the companies and their offers it ranges from 15-30 LPA .Almost 80-83% students gets placed but it depends on the branch of the students and their skillsets.I want to sit for GATE exam after completion of my BTech and want to persue MTech

SURTECH REVIEW

Course Curriculum Overview:

The university is MAKAUT so the curriculum is up to the mark. I liked Programming so I chose B.TECH in CSE. The curriculum is very basic in terms of practical world problem though they are building blocks, but you need to do the extra bit of work to qualify for the real world scenarios. I think more mandatory projects integrated with current set of skills would be a cherry on top. Exams are very frequent like every 3-4 months there is a semester exam and they are moderately difficult.

Placement for IT streams is very good but not good for the core stream. Infrastructure and campus beauty are very good. Faculty are average. Canteens are slightly costly but foods are ok. Hostel and Transport facilities are available.

I prefer Jadavpur University over other colleges as it provides better jobs,better ways for bigger achievements, world-wide connections through professors and chances to be part of great projects and ideas. To be honest I haven't applied for any other colleges through the admission process under WBJEE and got selected in Jadavpur in the first attempt. The admission process of Jadavpur Univesity is done through counselling under WBJEE board and based on the merit in basis of score got in the WBJEE exam. The cutoffs are usually high compared to other colleges in West Bengal and students can get admission only through the WBJEE exam.
