Remarks

To get admission at HIMT for the GME course one has to complete Btech/BE in Mechanical Engineering and age not to be exceeding twenty-eight years at the time of commencement of the course. The candidate has to be medically fit and the same has to be approved by a DG shipping approved Doctor.

Course Curriculum Overview

The HIMT college has very well-trained and experienced faculties both from the shipping industry and non mariners. The exams conducted by the college were of a moderate difficulty level and the overall course curriculum provided me to gain the confidence to work onboard a ship.

Class Size: 40Course Fees: INR 365000 per year

Placement Experience

100% placements are not available, but the cadets scoring above 80% above in academics always stand a chance of appearing for placement interviews when the shipping companies visit the campus. After completion of the course also we will be called up by the college for various placement opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

HIMT College is charging very low fees compared to all other marine colleges and provides all the infrastructure facilities required for the training. The food and accommodation are also decent with the fees charged.

Campus Life

Life at the campus was the same as how we lived onboard. The main objective of this training is how to be safe onboard. As a part of the refreshment and entertainment cultural fest, sports and games are conducted round the year.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel rooms are shared rooms. In each room four members are staying , so that hostel fees are less compare dto other colleges. Staying together in a room with other natives. will make us more comfortable with mingling with each others.

Hostel Fee: INR 60000 per year

HIMT COLLEGE REVIEW

Placement Experience:

For ETO there is sponsorship as well as placements. If you are sponsored by any company you don't need to attend any placement drives. But if you are not sponsored they were providing placements in the first month onwards. The shipping companies like MAERSK LINE, BSM, MSC GOOD WOOD, MARSHALL, and many more are taking the cadets. Almost 90 % are placed before leaving the campus. As far as lam concerned I will go for sailing after the company's induction programme.

Life that I lived in HIMT was good.

Placement Experience:

The placement were depending upon the performance of the cadet, however the cadets are the HIMT will give chances will be given to atten the interview , there we should perform. So the placements entirely lies in our hands only.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As a first-generation mariner, I've always wanted to join the merchant navy. After joining himt for the gme course I came to know of the dicipline that is being practised here. The faculty and the infrastructure here are of the highest quality. The exams and internals and orals conducted during the course will definitely help you in preparation for the class 4 examination

I have applied to Angelo eastern. But the exam date is after HIMT's joining date. I have already sponsored by a shipping company called BSM, they told me to take the course from this college and complete the course with minimum 65% aggregate.
