Remarks

So far so good the NIT Silchar indeed is a very good college now i am proud of my college it has improved a lot and still further wants to improve.

Entrance Preview

I appeared for AIEEE in the year of 2003 i was very much interested in Electronics branch i went for online councelling and i could get NIT Silchar i wanted NIT Allahabaad but could not get after joing the college, i found it's very good college located in a quiet place surrounded by hills i learned alot there and enjoyed too.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course was good but it was less research oriented at that time main focus of the subject was that to teach the subject we had shortage of faculty also most of the faculty was new and they had little experience subject like signal and system, digital signal processing was not taught properly there. Mechanical, Electrical and Civil had good faculty at that time and they were lenient too.

Internships Opportunities

No in my knowledge, college does not provide internship (thi sis the case of 2003 2007) the may be proving this time.

Placement Experience

4.5

We have a very good, dynamic and active Training and Placement Department they were constanty working to bring more and more companies so that that each and every student get job before he or she leaves college in 2006 2007, the college recorded more than 90 percent job and some of them got 2 jobs also.

College Events

5

We used to have technical festival from each department mainly engineering department annual cultural festival and some time food fest in student activity centre in, cultural festival, we used to bring some national band for performance on usually last day and fashion event which involves not only our college but neighbouring college also.

Fee Structure And Facilities

In 2003 to 2007, fee was reasonable there were two type of fee one for odd semester and other for even semester odd semester fee was a bit higher than even semester fee as it include Hostel fee, IT fee etc for one year being a govt funded college, fee was reasonable.

Fees and Financial Aid

In my knowledge, there was no such kind of facility from college but bank used to offer the same one of my friend took loan from SBI.

Campus Life

4

Campus life was very good we had 5 boys hostel and 1 girls hostel gender ration was not balanced there were mostly male student in a class of 35, there were only 5 girls we have many extra curricular activities from technical to cultural and we had sports activity also AISTE student chapter used to organise discussion and aptitude test at college level for the benefit of the students.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel was okay type mess was pathetic mess menu was very less except at festival and grand gala event which used to happen sometimes breakfast menu was poori, sabji and parotha in lunch and dinner, mostly rice was served and roti or poori only sometimes

Alumni/Alumna

We had good connection with seniors as all four semester used to stay in the same hostel but our alumni network was very less as there were not alumni meet.

Exam Structure

Examination structure was a bit friendly we used to have 100 marks for theory and 50 marks for lab which in turn used as grading system SPI and CGPI we had 30 marks for mid sem and 50 marks for end semester adn 20 marks for assignment, quiz, class test an

Faculty

4

Faculty was average at that time no one was PHD they were also very new so can not be blamed some were very good in explaining the matter in interesting way especially Mr. SanJEEv Rai most of the faculty was new and Just M.Tech from IIT SaJEEv Sir taught

Placement Experience:

NIT Silchar has decent placement stat. Approx 75 percent student got placement from campus and they got decent package. In NIT Silchar from 7th semester students are eligible for placement and company comes whole year for recruiting. Approx 100 company visit the college throughout the year. In tech Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart and more companies come. For core L&T, Adani, Tata Steel and more companies come. For service base Infosys, TCS, Wipro will come and give good offer. Highest package will come from tech company and that is 52lpa and average from all companies will lie from 10 to 12 lpa . My plans is that in my 4th year atleast I will get one job. If I don't get job then I will try from off campus or giving paper for government job

Placement Experience:

The placements here are actually decent. The average package for my branch was around 13.5 LPA last year and branches like CSE, EC and EI have a higher average package generally. The campus is visited by almost all of the top companies including Google, Adobe, Facebook, etc. The detailed placement records are available on the website of the institute. The percentage of students getting placed ranges anywhere between 70 percent to 92 percent. I plan to get an M.Tech degree after completing my B.Tech course from an IIT if possible.
