Remarks

BA(H) Economics is one of the most prestigious courses at Delhi University. The best part about this course is that student from any stream who have studied economics in/her 11th and 12th is eligible to take admitted to this course. The application form, fees, and dates are easily available on the official website of DU. Reservation benefits are similar to it is in every other course of DU based on the cut-off marks. Since the course is prestigious, you need to have a very good score in your +2, and seeing the competition in today's times, a good score means somewhat around 96+. In the year, when I took admission, there were no such entrance exams but as far as I remember, you've to give an entrance exam as well to opt for this course. Well the only thing I would like to get improve in the entire admission process is the time the college administration takes to get a candidate admitted to the college as it's a very cumbersome process that takes your entire day

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I opted for this course because of my love for economics since my school days and of course because it's one of the most prestigious courses at DU. The faculty: student ratio is pretty decent as it revolves around 1:40-1:45. Some of the teachers are qualified from prestigious universities and colleges like Delhi School of Economics and London School of Economics. However, most of the faculty of the Economics department have done their master's and Ph.D. from JNU. Most of the teachers are quite friendly (barring one or two of course :p). The faculty is quite punctual when it comes to term exams and the difficulty level for the exam is moderate (depends on how well you are aware of the concepts).

Placement Experience

2.5

As already mentioned before, I had not opted for on-campus placements because I had some other plans regarding my career, and I don't think I can give the best or the proper output for the campus placements. However, I am aware of the fact that there was a separate placement cell made for bringing good companies to the college and students did get good placements from thereon.

Fees and Financial Aid

I found the fees very reasonable for such a most sought-off course like Economics Honours. In my first year, I paid 10,000 for the entire year, followed by 8,000 & 7,000 in the next consecutive years. I have not opted for on-campus placements, so I am not the best guy to advise you on this.

Campus Life

4.5

The life at the campus is quite amazing as the college is just 7-8 mins away from Malviya Nagar Metro station. However, the college is in Saket but it is closely located near Malviya Nagar Metro Station. Due to its location in Saket, one can go for one of the best malls of Delhi i.e., Select City Walk & DLF. For street food lovers and pocket savers, there are places such as Anupam Market & Authority near the college. Annual fests are organised every year and celebrity list is not so fascinating. However, the member of students union were able to manage to bring likes of Manish Paul, The Local Train, Milind Gaba etc. In library, you can get almost every academic book & magazines. The college campus has 2 divisions i.e., Old & New Building where the latter one is much more spacious, adding to the likes of a huge ground where sport events and fests are organised every year. Apart from that, there are various amazing societies, including a separate society for students of economics dept.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose political science because i want to go for government exams and political science is an important subject for clearing government exams As per my info, my curriculum is very close to syllabus for exams like UPSC and SSC For improving teaching methods, projectors should be installed and implemented as it helps us to understand and see it more better The frequency of exam is twice a year as semester exam, and exam is not very tough nor too easy, it is medium level that anyone can score good marks if studied well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Regarding course curriculum, I am not satisfied the additional courses like SAC, VAC, AEC have no purpose, they are just a headache which makes it difficult for students to focus on the main subjects, although I am in favour of GE subjects. The marking scheme of 90 marks written paper and 70 marks for internal is also great. Apart from this talking about political science honours curriculum, I will say it is pretty great, there are difficult concepts and bulky material to study from but it could be improved by reducing the weight/ pressure put up by other subjects- sec,vac...

Companies visit are often at our college like Deloitte, wipro , Infosys , KPMG etc but options are wide only for commerce background students they are limited for arts faculty students like me. Highest package is about 6 to 7 lpa while most of the package ranges between 4 to 6 lpa percentage of students getting are average and they are mostly from comm letce and economic or business background. I would go for journalism and choose IIMC for my master's.
