My Experience at SPM

Online application was fairly easy. Diverse payment options were available. The only required improvement would be better tele assistance with clarity on the part of the assistant. Some students got mixed responses regarding queries and clearer answers would be appreciated.

I chose this course because it was an optional for UPSC MAINS, as well as a good base for three year LLB course. The faculty at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College is particularly wonderful. The teachers encourage discussion and debates. Academically speaking, SPM provides an even better environment than some of the North Campus colleges. The semesters at Delhi University were shortened during my first year as a lot of time had been lost due to the pandemic. Despite this, due to the excellent advice and teaching provided, my classmates performed really well. The exams were in OBE mode so that was another factor that led to an above-average performance by our class.

The college is part of Delhi University, which is funded by the Central Government. Due to this reason, the fees are minimal as compared to other Universities. The fees for BA Hons Political Science was around 6900 for one year. It usually lies between 6k to 14k per annum depending on the course. Scholarship opportunities are available for disadvantaged groups and the toppers. The scholarship for academic performance is awarded to one (sometimes more) student from the whole college. I have not come across any job opportunities available on campus yet.

The SPM college fest, 'Srijan' is well known. Unfortunately, due to covid, it has been conducted online as long as I have been enrolled. SPM college wins in infrastructure. It has a magnificent auditorium, a separate three-storey building for the library, and beautiful greenery all around. The campus is a short walk from the Shivaji Park metro station, so the students rarely face transport issues.
