Remarks
The admission process was purely merit-based. Since in Economics you require a lot of mathematical skills so it is compulsory to have mathematics in your class 12. The application form was available on the Delhi University website with an application fee of 250. Since I belong to the OBC-NCL category so I got admission with 97.5 percent marks in the 3rd cutoff. If possible Delhi University can come with both entrance and merit-based so it can go away with skyrocketing cutoffs.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Economics because it is a dynamic subject and there was a lot of mathematics which impressed me a lot and I was curious to learn about markets and their behavior which economics is really helping me. There are many professors but in our 1st semester and in our section there are 4 teachers for 4 different papers with students approx to 45. All the professors are mainly P.hd holders and possess a lot of knowledge. We are exams for the 1st semester are going to be held at the end of March so I cannot predict the difficulty of the paper.
Internships Opportunities
The abhyas - the internship cell of students is mainly responsible for providing internship opportunities to students. An internship helps to enhance skills and build a good resume that can impress your HR. I have not participated in any of the internships so I have no idea about the company and stipend.
Placement Experience
I think that in the 3rd-semester placements are offered to students which are willing to make a corporate career. The average placement is 8 lakh per annum with the highest package of 20+ lakh was offered to one of the students. Mainly students of B.Com (Hons.)and B.A. (Hons)Economics sit for placements. Many go with masters, some with civil services, I have planned to make a career in civil services.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The cost of studying is extremely affordable with my college fees of 17560 rupees per year, which also helps a lot of students with not sound financial backgrounds. I have not got any scholarship from college but hoping to get it in the coming future.
Campus Life
Since my classes are going online from 22 November of the 1st semester so I have not visited my college yet. But I have heard from my seniors that college has a fest called mecca which is the largest fest in DU and there are a lot of tips to goa and Manali as I have heard. I think that the food of Delhi is awesome.
