Review For IEM Kolkata

For admission you have to get a good rank in WBJEE, if you are opting for computer science engineering you must get a rank under 2000 in other states except for West Bengal. WBJEE is conducted by the state of West Bengal and happens only once a year. If you live in West Bengal there is a reservation of 90% for home state students. Apart from this seats are also reserved for other casts like SC, ST, OBC, and OBC(NCL). The admission process is fine and very good students from all across India take admitted here.

I chose this course because I always liked Computer science from the beginning and even took it while I was in Class 12th and it was a very good decision to take this course in this college. The best thing about this course in this college IEM is that curriculum is so syncing with your daily studies so you get along with it and it's not that hard and you have got plenty of time to work on yourself to develop skills in 1st and 2nd year. For a whole class, we get 2-3 faculties that are 3 faculties for 150 students. All professors are Ph.D. holders and some of them are even doing research work in college. Per semester we have 3 exams 2 mid sems and one end sem. And the level of the exams is moderate.

Mostly 3rd year paid interns are non-core. Few people in our college get interns in core companies. If you have good coding skills and have done your homework before sitting for internships, you will surely get an internship in 3rd year. For interns under professors, you will get projects to work on. Interns usually are paid, and non-interns are usually not taken by students. Based on paid interns, if you develop your skills till 3rd year of college, you will definitely get paid interns in college.

From the start of the 7th semester or the very start of the 4th year onwards, students become eligible for campus placements. Almost every major companies visit our college along with mass recruiters like TCS and Vipro, and almost most of them are product-based or service-based companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Intel, Book my Show, etc. The highest package from our branch was 72 lakhs in the 2017 batch and the average package is about 5 lakhs. Every year about 80-90% of students get placed and the average CTC of our college is about 7-8 lakhs.

The fees per semester are 70 thousand Rs and those who cannot afford it are availed of many different types of scholarships that they can get depending on their conditions and their skills in their courses. College provides full financial assistance to each and everyone who is in the need of it. And even avails the full tuition fees for economically backward students. Various companies come for internships here and students can apply via off-campus mode also depending on the skills and talent they developed in the 1st and 2nd year of college.

The annual fest in our college is innovation and the tech fest is called Technozoid. These are some of the biggest fests in the whole state of West Bengal. Along with it monthly small fests and activities are conducted in our college. Our college has one of the biggest libraries in the state and access to the books is 24x7 even soft copies are available so that students can get their hands on whatever they need, be it soft or digital copy. Classrooms are normal size with desks fans tube lights and a digital smart board with projectors. The campus also has sports facilities required.

The rooms are very accommodated and normal and 2-3 students can easily stay in one room. All rooms are provided with a wi-fi facility and you will get a ceiling fan, a table, a chair, and an almirah and solo bed for each student. The mess is good which is the opposite of the mess in every other college and hygiene is a little behind. There are both veg and non-veg food available and it's up to students to eat whatever they want all week time. A mess is provided along with a hostel room which is randomly given and A warden is also attached to each hostel building. Hostels are provided randomly.
