Remarks

I registered for the University of Delhi and was fortunate to get into Deshbandhu College in the second cutoff in English Hons., located in South Campus near Kalka Ji temple. The cutoffs are released every year by all the colleges of DU after some time of the results of class 12 for several boards. I got 91.5% marks and 2nd cutoff was 90% so i could easily get into it. The whole procedure was completely online and a little easy, there was no hurry or pressure to visit any campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is absolutely amazing and interesting, I am enjoying every bit of it. This course has a lot of scopes and is amongst the most popular courses in DU. It involves a thorough study of forms of literature like drama, poetry, prose, short stories, etc. of the culture of several continents and countries, such as Africa, America, Ancient Greek etc. The English department is a big one with tremendous experience. The faculty out there is so helpful and punctual. Also due to the boundaries of pandemics to make the novels and syllabus more explanatory and accessible to students, movies are regularly suggested by teachers which really helps a lot. There are around 12+ members in the faculty with most of them having experience of over 20+ years. Teachers also give ideas with regard to how to write the paper. The course is very interesting and not so much difficult. I passed with first division in the 1st semester despite OBE.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college has a Vyapaar E-cell which nurtures even the soft skills and provides their students an exposure to the corporate world. An internship fair was also organized by this cell which brought a lot of opportunities for students to develop and grow themselves. The stipend is offered according to the course, skills sets, efficiency, and other eligibility criteria also significantly the aspirations of the hirers.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement depends upon the course and of course interests of the students, I am planning to pursue a master's after my bachelor's. There is a placement cell that can be contacted and approached. Many big companies offer placements to several students. The college provides a wide range of courses and subject fields to study including arts, commerce, and science.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee is quite affordable and reasonable and far less than other universities. It was around 9k for one year for my course. So every talent is genuinely respected, and when it comes to material, the college has one of the vast libraries in DU. The college also offers scholarships and financial assistance for economically weaker sections, but a low-income certificate is required as evidence. Also, a fee waiver can be accessed under the Nation loan scholarship scheme if the student has scored above 60% in the last semester examination through the application.

Campus Life

4.5

The college holds departmental fests like Querencia, sabrang etc. The library is very well equipped and the official site of the college also provides e-resources and a lot of materials can be accessed through the national digital library. I have been studying online since the admission so I don't have a fair view of physical campus of college but it is sure that it is at a lively place. There are also sports facilities for the sports students. There are several socities, like the fine arts society Art meisters, which I am a part of, its so fascinating also the students are participative and cooperative which brings us with a lots of opportunities. There are other socities as well for different interests.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
