SIT: Campus life and placements

Siliguri Institute of Technology asks for minimum marks of 45% in 10th and +2 as the eligibility criteria to get admitted into it. My admission was done on the basis of my wbjee rank. In the first round of the counseling itself SIT was selected and without any hesitation I accepted it.

I chose CSE because it has an exceptionally huge scope and field to make the career. It has better job security too. The faculties of SIT are really very much helpful and understanding. They don't keep any doubt to be inside our minds. Almost all of them are Ph.D.The faculty: student ratio can be 10:1(approx). Teachers conduct regular tests and give assignments to do but not much is tough to do and doesn't hamper our campus life. But we need to study hard to score good marks in the semester exams.

The college provides good internships in reputed companies like INTEL, etc. They work as developers with a healthy stipend. We also need to work on projects in the final year to fill in our resumes. We really enjoy it being very much practical.

From the 3rd year itself, the campus placement starts. To get placed in good companies students must maintain at least 7.5 cgpa. Many reputed companies like TCS, Capgemini, Macfee, Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, etc are top recruiters. The highest package offered is 13 LPA and on average it's about 4-4.5 LPA. The percentage of students placed from our stream last year was about 75%. Some also went for the MBA.

When I took admission, the total course fee was about 406000. But this year there must be a little hike as every college does it. According to me, this amount is affordable for this professional degree. In spite, one can apply for a scholarship also. There are various government fields available for it. You can search for that. The campus jobs are really good. One of my seniors got placed in MCAFEE last year with 10 LPA.

SIT conducts fests every year including tech fests, fiestas, freshers' party and many more. Many popular brands and celebrities come here to entertain us and seeing them live on stage is just unbelievable. The campus life becomes more awesome with the college environment. The college is surrounded by tea gardens and has a sound atmosphere to spend our time with friends. It has a huge basketball court and all kinds of sports activities are encouraged here. The canteen food is awesome and hygiene is maintained. The library has all kinds of books related to our syllabus. The books are very helpful. The classrooms are well furnished and labs are awesome with every feature it must include. There are many social clubs in the college to maintain the culture. We can all participate in it. They really help us in our welfare.
