Remarks
I applied to various colleges, got selected in Ferguson college (Pune), Christ University (Bannerghatta, Bangalore), Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi). But I opted for Miranda House as its NIRF rank was 1st. I applied through SC quota and for reserved categories, the separate cutoff list was released. Minimum marks were released as per different cutoffs. The admission process was smooth and hassle-free. There was a help desk that guided the aspirants well. Faculty members were involved in the admission process. In case the result is delayed(due to rechecking procedure), the college has a different procedure for that too.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose BA English Honours as I want to become a journalist and thought that English Honours will enhance my knowledge base. The faculty-student ratio at Miranda is 1:45. The faculty is exceedingly knowledgeable and has excellent teaching methods. Exams are held semester-wise at Delhi University. A few colleges at DU(doesn't happen at MH though) even hold mid-semester exams. The difficulty level is high and marking is very tough.
Internships Opportunities
Various placement offers are given to us. Eligibility criteria range from all courses and years to only specific courses and years as per requirement for the company. Roles usually include Marketing and Sales Intern, Business Development Intern, Content Writer. The stipend is 2000 per month- 5000 per month. In the case of job opportunities, CTC is that of 3-3.5 lakh PA.
Placement Experience
I don't possess much knowledge about Placements. We do have a placement cell though. It offers internships from time to time. Career prospects after BA English Honours- One can become a journalist, academic person, novelist, or content writer for a company.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
I don't have much knowledge about this. But being a government college, Miranda House (and DU as a whole) has low fees and has scholarships. It's also known to provide disability concession and access to libraries.
Campus Life
The name of the annual fest is- Tempest. One of the most famous in DU. It's usually held in the month of February. Due to the pandemic, it's shifted online. Books and journals are available in the library as per needs. We have a flourishing Sports Society which is run by students. Other societies run by students- Department societies (course-wise. For eg, English dept has English Literary Society, MH), Women's Development Cell, Equal Opportunity Cell, Placement Cell, Adwitiya(Fine arts society), Mridang(Classical Dance society), Tanz(Western Dance society), Ariels (English Drama Society), Anukriti(Hindi Drama Society), Bluequill(Creative Writing society), etc.
