Remarks

I had previously applied for a few colleges in and around Kolkata like Adamas University, Amity University, etc. for the BTech CSE program, but their course fees structure was really high as per me. Then I saw Brainware University's website and found that the course fees were affordable and the faculty quality was also good, hence I took admission there. The admission criteria for my program was overall 60% marks in 10+2. The admission process was through an online mock test in which a student needs to score >=50% and finally a counselling session conducted at the Brainware office.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

They chose this course thinking about the current industry demands and its future prospects. This course has a lot to offer for students aspiring to work in any technical sector. The faculty: student ratio is around 30:120 throughout the course. The faculty qualification is good, with professors belonging from elite educational background across various streams. In view of the pandemic, all our faculty members conduct classes online and put a great amount of effort to make students understand every topic. However, administration staffs are not the best as far as their behaviour with guardians is concerned. The term/semester exams are conducted every 5-6 months and the difficulty level is easy to moderate.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The college provides Internship opportunities from MSME companies and startups like ARDENT Infotech, DCPL Tech, etc. where students need to pay for the course they apply for. The college might not be able to provide any paid internship opportunities (with stipend) and the students need to find them individually.

Placement Experience

3.5

The college does provide placement for students. From the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. The top companies visited include IBM, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, CTS, Pinnacle, and many other small companies and startups. Students having a stronghold in technical as well as soft skills are likely to be placed in one of the above companies. The highest package offered by any company is around 6 LPA and the average package is in between 2-3 LPA. The college is able to place >= 70% of students. I wish to work in any of the above-mentioned companies or go for higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

The course fees structure is around 3.5 lakh (approx) with Financial Aid (scholarship) available for students scoring >=70 % in plus 2 levels. There are other scholarships available provided by the state and central government.

Campus Life

4

The campus life is really enjoyable. Students can experience a clean and green campus with enough space to move around. Every year annual/tech fests are conducted, namely "TEXIBITION", in the month of April-May. But amidst the pandemic, unfortunately, the fests are conducted online. The library is well equipped with a good quantity of textbooks, reference books, journals, etc. for students to learn from. However, during this pandemic students face problems taking away books for study. The classrooms are spacious and well equipped with needful amenities for conducting classes. The campus has a sports playground for students to stay fit and enjoy. The university organizes various extracurricular activities like debate, elocution, extempore, essay writing, singing, dancing competitions; tree plantation, seminars, webinars, etc throughout the year. In this pandemic situation also the university is continuously organizing webinars by inviting industry experts as chief guests.

Placement Experience:

Despite the low fee structure, my college provides a good placements. Almost every student of CSE Dept who sit for placement, gets the placement between 4lpa - 6lpa. Last year the highest package was ?12 lpa. ECE department has the lowest percentage of placements. And other engineering departments have between 60-70% placement. All the mentioned above is the description of in campus placement. Not many students of my college opt for out campus. But if they do, they get good placements as per the reports. In 2021 a student secured the job in Microsoft, with the placement of ?45 lpa (out campus).

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am a student of Computer Science Engineering and the curriculum prepares students of all branches for inter disciplinary courses, so that all branches have a basic idea of all branches of engineering in general. The curriculum stresses a lot on communication, social and personality development. There are regular lab classes and weekly assignments and tests to keep track of a student's progress. There are lots of extra and co curricular activities which enhance and add to the experience of a college student. The college follows the MAR point system proposed by MAKAUT, which includes and promotes a huge variety of this activities. In addition to this, the college has many clubs, the students of which participate actively in social activities like blood donation drive, marathon, cloth donation, self defence drive etc.
