Remarks
About the College: Ghani Khan Chowdhury Institute of Engineering and Technology, or GKCIET is a CFTI / GFTI or Centrally Funded Technical Institution that was founded in the year 2010 and started offering B.Tech degrees from 2018 only. The college was mentored along with NIT Andhrapradesh by NIT Durgapur. The Institution academic cell and other departments are headed by the IIT Patna director and IIT Kharagpur professors. Overall the college is quite good Cons of the college include, it lacks a sufficient number of faculty members, and it hasn't achieved fame, since it's a new college, and because of the remote location.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose B.Tech Electrical Engineering cause, that's what I thought was good in this college, and it is. The ratio of faculty to students is 1:13. The teachers try their level best and are well qualified. Most of them have done their PhD either from any IITs or any NITs. The academic department as I told you is governed by the IIT Patna director and IIT Kharagpur professors along with the college professors. The exams were conducted by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University, to which it is affiliated, and the exam was smooth and the difficulty level was moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Till now, the first batch of B.Tech is in their 3rd year, and the college has got tie up with some product based companies for their internships, but due to the pandemic, things are a bit different now.
Placement Experience
The college started providing BTech degrees in 2018, hence the 1st batch will pass out next year, but this year the diploma students were placed in PIE Infocom Pvt Ltd located in Lucknow with the highest package according to my internal reports of 7.5lpa, and the average is 3.5 lpa. The drives are still being conducted till now 8 students have been placed in this pandemic year. I myself wish to do M.Tech after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure of the college is extremely low, overall you will have to spend 64k in 4 years, leaving aside the hostel fees. State Govt Scholarships and Central Government Scholarships are received by the students.
Campus Life
Pratispardha is the annual Cultural Fest, and TechPrabha is the technical fest organized by the college, which is conducted in March and January respectively. The college has a huge central library building with an enormous collection of books, which gets updated with time. Webinars, talks are organised by the college frequently. The college has a partnership with NIT Meghalaya for The EBSB club for student and faculty exchange program, the college organizes SPICMACAY sessions, has robotics, space, dance clubs. The college has got 2 newly built hostels and staff quarters. There are a total of 4 academic buildings, 1 Administrative Building, 2 workshops.
Hostel Facilities
Generally, 2/3 people share a room, in this 4 storeyed hostel. The hostel has all facilities like proper water, electricity and wifi. For the pandemic, the hostel is closed, but you need to opt for a hostel facility during admission verification. The college has got a mess facility, as well as a canteen, where the price is extremely cheap.
