Remarks
MDI Gurgaon is one of the topmost MBA colleges in India, with a rank of 10th as per NIRF 2020 Ranking. The college does not support any reservations and thus the entire batch is admitted based on merit. One of the best offerings of this college has to be the peer learning you get here. You study among top scorers in CAT, and the crowd is from a diverse background, ranging from people with mathematics honours to lawyers to professional musicians. There are people with no experience to more than 5 years of experience, all brought together in a beautiful campus and subjected to various assignments and projects by the design of curriculum. Other than peers, this college also has some distinguished professors with some creative ways of learning. What the college lacks in is good administration, often leading to woes of the students, but one can overlook that. The admissions process involves an application, GDs and interviews.
Course Curriculum Overview
The PGDM course covers all aspects of business in the first year and goes on to offer specializations in the second year. All faculty in MDI has a PhD. There are some really good professors, including visiting faculty. The course is divided into 6 trimesters and there are two sets of exams for each of these, barring the final one.
Internships Opportunities
Summer internship placements ha[[en around the first term. Many FMCG companies offer sales and marketing roles for a period of 2 months in the summer of next year. There are multiple consulting firms and investment banks which also hire students in numbers. Projects in the Sales and Marketing domain are usually related to marketing a new product, or conducting appropriate market research, or increase sales for a product.
Placement Experience
The placements happen around the end of the 5th term and the start of the 6th term. A number of companies from all fields visit the campus, including FMCG giants such as Coca Cola, Loreal, ITC and the Big 4s such as Deloitte, PwC, ETC.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for a two-year full-time PGDM course is Rupees 21,00,000. This includes the cost of the entire stay on campus, including boarding, lodging, mess charges, library fee, etc. The college has tied up with Corporation bank to provide education loans to students during the induction process or before the process. Placements are a major attraction for this college and therefore receive a lot of effort and attention from the admin, faculty and the student community. The college saw an average CTC of 23LPA for the 2019-21 batch.
Campus Life
Campus life is great. There are multiple clubs and committees which keep organizing events throughout the duration of the course. Imperium and Illumina are the annual fests. There are various sports events that are hosted in the college as well. The college has a massive library which is digitised.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are mediocre and hot in the summers but that is often overlooked in the face of the number of activities one is doing constantly. There are multiple hostel buildings on the campus. Meals are of good quality and a good balance.
Interview Experience
There was no separate test. CAT scores are considered for admissions. There was GD on a generic current affair topic then. The interview usually depends on the background of the candidate: engineers were asked subject related questions, people with their own business were asked appropriate questions from the field of work. I was asked questions based on my hobbies and interests, testing my ability to think on my feet and handle situations creatively.
