Remarks

Firstly it's a government college, so the tution fees is very less. Secondly it's one of the most reputed engineering colleges in West Bengal that everyone has heard of. Finally I learnt that many from this college crack various MNCs each year(although off-campus, but the development of skill-set is more important).

Course Curriculum Overview

Course syllabus is quite updated. We aren't provided with much industrial exposure. As it is a Tier 3 college, not many companies visit for providing internships. The faculties are good enough. The CSE department professors are quite good and take care of the students. The physics and chemistry department professors are rude and are going to shout at you for almost everything.

Placement Experience

TCS Ninja(3.36lpa) hires many from our college, followed by Cognizant(4.1lpa). These are the two main recruiter on campus. But apart from these, a few of the students do crack top MNCs like Amazon and Microsoft, although off-campus. TCS Digital (7lpa) offers job on-campus too. Some get placed in Infosys too.

College Events

The campus life is very good in KGEC. We have events almost through out the year. The college fest Espektro is generally organised in the month of March and witnesses a plethora of activities including DJ nights and visits from famous celebrities. It goes on for 2-3 days.

The campus infrastructure is not good. The sport facilities exist, that's all I can say. No wifi. Library isn't equipped with good books. Nobody ever visits it. Labs are not at all well maintained. Mostly they use obsolete technologies that often stop working or give wrong results.

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. - I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

SXC Kolkata is a gem of a college.

Placement Experience:

Computers are so vast that masters is mandatory and therefore I have certain plans for that. However big scale IT companies come here and students of Computer science Hons have had placements worth 6-10 lakhs easily. SXC is invaluable to me!

Placement Experience:

Highest package of our program has been 20 lakhs. Companies like EY, DeShaw, ITC, CESC and many others which are multi billion dollar groups were the ones which are invited for placements. Batch size including morning and evening is of 400 students and nearly 200 gets placements in dream companies. Roles of business analyst and accounting are provided and SAP is taught in our college so those who know that gets job easily.
