Remarks

This is a renowned college with a good faculty of History so I applied here.this college has an excellent discipline system with really good and professors. The officials in the student's section are really helpful. Whenever we need any help for some official purpose. They are really student friendly. The canteen is good. Since it's apolitical, the political disturbances are almost absent. This makes the parents really tension free. Mthe location is really impressive with too many eateries and madical facilities nearby. There are several places for hanging out after college hours.

Course Curriculum Overview

The department of History in my college is really good with experienced professors who provide good notes and reading materials thus we never had any difficulty during our semesters. Moreover the professors are helpful. They are available. They always ask us to clarify the doubts if we have any. There are term paper presentations we have in every semesters where we present a topic in front of the entire class that makes the syllabus more easier and help up to get prepared.

Placement Experience

Heard that many seniors are getting good job opportunities and also going outside for higher studies who have passed out from this college.

College Events

The campus life was fun. The atmosphere is friendly with really good batch mates as well as college mates from other departments. The seniors were really really nice. The juniors are good. We have annual sports. Annual function. Freshers. Exhibition. These are really fun. The exhibition is very enjoyable. That is the time the entire department engage themselves in making models and charts and posters. The annual function is really good. We rehearse for that event for almost a month.there are auditions taking place for the selection in drama. Dance and singing. The entire process of this selection and rehearsals are really we look forward to.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus of the course is pretty nice with diversified subjects alsong with specialization subjects in the 3rd and 4th semester. Some compulsory subjects include Tagore Studies and Basics of Communication. The course also includes Development Communication, Online media, Journalism, Gender studies, Advanced Audio Visual Production. The department is well equipped a mac lab but it only have 5 macs. The curriculum also includes Design, UIUX, Graphics design etc, and the curriculum is continuously updating with moden media teachings. The curriculum mostly prepare us for Academic Purposes than Industry.

I have always wanted to persue English as a career. I love studying English but not a big fan of the new curriculum by NEP that includes a lot pf irrelevant papers. The semesters are not consistent. Odd semesters usually have a lot of time like 6-8 months but even semesters barely consist of 2-3 months.

One of the Best college in India.

I had applied for Ashutosh college, Muralidhar college, bethun college and Gokhale Memorial Girl's College for BSC psychology. But I did not get BSC psychology in bethune college so I was waiting for other colleges though my dream college was Gokhale Memorial girls College. First I had got a call from Muralidhar college and then after 2 to 3 days I got a call from vocal Memorial girls College. By call I meant that first my name came in the Muralidhar girls College merit list and then my name was published in the Gokul Memorial girls College merit list as this is my dream college I choose it over other colleges. So I don't regret my decision because, this college has excellent professors and great labs for practicing psychological practicals. Do not go by the past glory.

The admission was smooth, but in the payment process, I didn't get my money back from few colleges I applied for but didn't continue. All the candidates should keep an update of news and links of admission. SC and ST will get benifits along with OBCs, Calcutta University has bad placements and the syllabus has become a Little bit difficult.
