Likes

The faculty of English Hons. in our college is experienced , has good teaching skills and highly helpful.
The systems followed in the library of our college is far more advanced than other college libraries
Various cultural programs ,workshops are held , different skilled and certified courses are also taught and certificates are offered at the end of the course

Dislikes

Sometimes a huge gap between classes occur , such as one in the morning and another after the afternoon
Sometimes we are not properly informed about the proper class timings
Suddenly class gets cancelled and we get the information just few minutes prior to the class timing which is a very bad situation for students travelling from far away places

Course Curriculum Overview

English Hons. helps the students to learn and understand each material , may it be prose , poetry , articles ,etc in depth . The part of History of English Literature lets you to connect with the eighteenth century society , it makes us understand the importance of literature and how literature influenced the modern day world and writings .

Class Size: 52Course Fees: INR 19300 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Our course fees structure remains same for everyone and it doesn't change . The total course fees for four years is ?77,200 . Per semester charge is ?9650. Scholarships are available only for SC ,ST ,OBC

Campus Life

We have our Annual Program in Rabindra Sadan . Other than than that all the cultural days are celebrated through cultural programs and speeches. The college even conduct student exhibitions , student melas for enjoyment and learning. We have various clubs where you can join and start participating in the particular club events .

Admission

Firstly I wanted to study in a reputed privately college but Asutosh College is a government college. Gokhale Memorial Girl's College has a strong ,experienced and very helpful faculty in English Hons. Even the systems of the library is far more advanced and beneficial with availability of various books for students.

Faculty

In English Hons. department of Gokhale Memorial Girl's College,batch 2024-2028 we have 52 students and 4teachers . All the four teachers of our department are very helpful and they have very admirable teaching skills. Sometimes for unavoidable circumstances from their side they need to cancel or change the timings of their classes.

Night Life

The most famous hangout spot for our college students is Rabindra Sadan (Nandan) . Other than that Victoria Memorial , Elliot Park , Maidan ,St.Paul's Cathedral Church , Birla Planeterium are almost nearby our college. Haldiram , Gupta Brothers ,Sugar and Spice ,various fast food centres are readily available for food and meals

I wanted to explore the CS stream from the beginning so I joined this program. The faculty: student ratio in BA is good and is around 1:7. All the teachers are well equipped and have complete knowledge of the subjects they are teaching. The exams were difficult as compared to the SPPU endsem exams, but that is expected from a college of such repute.

One of the Best college in India.

I had applied for Ashutosh college, Muralidhar college, bethun college and Gokhale Memorial Girl's College for BSC psychology. But I did not get BSC psychology in bethune college so I was waiting for other colleges though my dream college was Gokhale Memorial girls College. First I had got a call from Muralidhar college and then after 2 to 3 days I got a call from vocal Memorial girls College. By call I meant that first my name came in the Muralidhar girls College merit list and then my name was published in the Gokul Memorial girls College merit list as this is my dream college I choose it over other colleges. So I don't regret my decision because, this college has excellent professors and great labs for practicing psychological practicals. Do not go by the past glory.

The admission was smooth, but in the payment process, I didn't get my money back from few colleges I applied for but didn't continue. All the candidates should keep an update of news and links of admission. SC and ST will get benifits along with OBCs, Calcutta University has bad placements and the syllabus has become a Little bit difficult.
