Zakir husain delhi college is the oldest college of Delhi University and is really famous for the discipline and strict nature of teachers and even guards, which is a good thing for maintaining decorum. The teachers have quite good knowledge and a great ability to teach not only subjects but also the basic things and skills required to compete with outer world. The basic admission process is same like other DU colleges, a form has to be filled before the colleges announce their cutoffs and then according to cutoff,one can approach the college on the given date being different every year. I really found this college attractive, I still got into zhdc even after being eligible for other colleges because of the environment, the greenery and teaching pattern, also I wanted evening shift which was a plus point here. I got so many learning opportunities after getting into this college and also exposure to various societies. The fees being so nominal is like icing on the cake for this college

I chose bcom hons because of my interest in this field, the faculty here is so knowledgeable that a students gets to learn so many things from them, plus all the teachers are way too cooperative always. We had 164 students in our batch,which is highest of all other years. Girls are definitely less than the boys,though not much difference. All the projects and studies are conducted in a comfortable and cooperative way. The faculty is highly qualified, some of them are PhD in their specific subjects while everyone else is having multiple degrees,all of them holding masters in commerce subjects. Some of the teachers are even having their own YouTube channels as well to help students. They use an understandable teaching method with both English and hindi languages, whichever is more comfortable for students. The term exams are generally conducted in the month of may and November and are at medium level, which can be passed if basics are clear to the students.

Though college doesn't provide internships but assistance to get some , from official websites for internships like internshala. I have completedd some internships in the field of HR, PR and business development so far. The stipend has been mostly target based but generally 2000-3000 are fixed sometimes. Project and targets are based on the role one applied for. Marketing and sales field fix targets differently while HR department targets on getting prospects and employess.

The campus placements range from normal to good. Students become eligible after 4th semester for the campus placements. The companies visited in our college are Barclays, icici, vipro, Genpact, max newyork life insurance and google have visited in our college, all provide quite good package as per the starting as being understood by the names as well. Average salary package has been 8 lpa while highest has been 12 lpa for the profiles in finance, HR, PR and marketing/sales. The students who crack the interview gets placed,so the percentage varies every year. I am planning to go for professional degree/ exams once I get the degree and exploring more of my commerce field. Also I have already got experience with many internships.

All the courses in zakir hussain have very very nominal fees and one can easily pay it. My fees was Rs. 7000 for 1 year while bcom prog have around 5000 Rs. per annum. The books can be fetched from library and it is also available at a normal cost in a nearby market around the college. So,it can said that studying here is very cost effective. Well because of this pandemic situation, I didn't get a chance to get a job from the campus as this year, no colleges got any campus placements but generally one gets placed in different good companies from my college, with a stipend of around 10000-30000 per month which is a good amount after completing just graduation. Also different internships can be done along with the college only, even teachers do suggest some good internships and jobs to students. I do not have much knowledge about scholarship but if a student have some financial problem,then even the teachers help them if discussed.

The life at the campus is just amazing, it's difficult to put into words what actually the fun here taught us. Our annual fest is the most awaited event for all students which is conducted in the month of feb mostly, arranged by our society SARMAYA. All the books are generally available in the library though they are not of recent edition but it still serves the purpose, it is really easy to find the books, all one need to do is just searcg on the available computer and it will show u the almirah no in which ur books is available. Classrooms are not that furnished but are kept really clean, some classrooms have A/C , library are fully A/C . All types of sports team and eca are conducted in the college, various inter or intra college Competetion are there and accordingly practice goes. Sarmaya is the commerce society , along with it different other societies like arts society, dance , singing, sports, ncc, fashion society, all kinds of societies are there encouraging different ECA
