Entrance Preview

GATE 2013, There are basically 30 seats for every M.E. course, 19 are for GATE students. These 19 students receive UGC scholarship, which is 12400/- per month now. I got 35 marks out of 100. Apart from GATE, rest of the seats are filled by written test.

Internships Opportunities

I got 8K per month as my M.Tech scholarship. Apart from that, if you go to some other institute for your Thesis work, you can get some more stipend there.

Placement Experience

4

For a mechanical student doing M.E. from Thapar, placement scene is not so good. Only IT companies like IBM, TCS, Accenture recruited around 6 students from my batch. Apart from that, colleges like LPU recruited 1-2 student from my batch. I got placement in IBM, but I did not join as I am not good in programming.

College Events

5

There are 2 fests, 1 cultural and 1 technical fest. Apart from that, so many other events, which include cultural, technical and other kind of events. Sports events also take place. So, Thapar is basically event friendly.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I will say expensive. At my time time, it was 55K per sem.Every year, they increase it by 5000. So, it is on some expensive side. Apart from that, hostel is also not cheap. You have to pay around 40 K for single room (boys).

Fees and Financial Aid

There is scholarship of 4000 per month for those M.E. students who dont get GATE scholarship. It is given by TEQIP. It is not a guaranteed scholarship. You may or may not get it, its your luck.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is brilliant. You can show your talent in every field here. There are labs for everything, sports ground for cricket, football, tennis, basket, badminton, synthetic running track. Good labs for robotics, there is a robotic society also.

Alumni/Alumna

Very good alumni network. Thapar has a dedicated alumni network, which is operated on an active basis. Every other week, there is an alumni meet for the previous batches of 60s and 70s.

Exam Structure

CGPA system. Thapar's CGPA multiplier is 10. Every semester, Mid sem and end sem. exam take place. Exam prepared and checked by college faculty only.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty is very good. Almost all the teachers are PHD in their respective fields, either from Thapar or NIT or IITs. So, they have good knowledge of their subjects.

Teh campus placements are not that good for this course. It's good for BTECH students but for Mtech it is not at par. Till now for my batch hardly 5-6 companies came for internship out of which hardly 4 took the candidates.

Course Curriculum Overview:

You will get many opportunities to furnish yourself as the faculty members are too supportive. You will get to know many conference on daily basis that can upheld your boost and make you morally supportive. Doing masters there would lack of strictness as they thought your are grown up, they considered you only for exams and other circulum activities. University should seriously take in action the role their teachers are playing as they sometimes bunk many classes. Exams are not that tough as you would require basic knowledge of your subject.
