Remarks

1. Punjab Engineering College has a good reputation for academics, placements and extracurricular activities. 2. It was located in Chandigarh, close to my home. 3. The average package is 9+ lac and more than 100+ companies visit for placements. 4. The college has a large number of clubs and technical society and PECFEST is annual college fest which is quite popular. 5. There is no Ragging and College has good culture free from any politics.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course: The course was not updated and a lot of subjects had conventional topics. If there were any modern technology, teachers deliberately skipped that. The curriculum had less focus on innovation and critical thinking. Students don't have much freedom to choose from subjects. Academics: The academic pressure was negligible. The courses were distributed equally among semesters and there was enough time for preparation of quiz, assignment and term exam. The class were held regularly along with practical labs. Software knowledge was given in the required subjects. However, it could have been improved. Options to study other branches subjects and management and humanities courses was also there. Attendance was strict but has bow been replaced with Grade drop in case of low attendance. Faculty: Apart from a few faculty members, others lacked will to teach. One or two even repeated last year question paper. Hardly 2-3 professors gave innovative assignments. Question papers were mostly conventional with less scope of questions that involve critical thinking. Classes were taken regularly but most teachers were not experts in their subjects.

Internships Opportunities

JCB India Ltd, Faridabad. I was in manufacturing Department. No stipend.

Placement Experience

4

Around 80% of students got placed with Average package of 9 LPA. CSE sees good placement with the highest package of 49 LPA. Good companies visit the campus like Microsoft, IBM, Samsung, Maruti, Tata, JP Morgan, McKinsey, Bain, BCG, ITC, Fiat, Volvo, Vardhaman, SanDisk, Arcesium, DShaw, American Express, MasterCard, ZS Associates, Bajaj, Hero, Hilti, Adani Gas etc.

College Events

4.5

The campus has 25+ clubs and societies both technical and cultural. Apart from that, there are certain student run organization with organising large scale, city level events. The annual fest is PECFEST with the footfall of 30000+ people. Most of the college that participated from North. The cultural events were more attractive than the technical events. The cultural nights has hosted both Bollywood celebrities and international EDM artists. The college festival has 150+ events and there are some fun events too in the food arena.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship is offered to EWS students. They have to pay 5K per semester. Girl child scholarship is also there. Toppers of every branch are given scholarship and rank openers too. The loan is easily available. There are two banks on the campus.

Campus Life

3.5

1. Sports: Sports facilities were good. The college had all kinds of sports and pool along with football, cricket ground. Indoor sports were also available. 2. Library: the library was not big enough to accommodate a large number of students. Hardly 300 at maximum capacity. The books weren't the latest as well. 3. Wifi: the WiFi facilities on the campus were good. Speeds up to 40MBps were recorded. 4. Labs: Labs were mostly conventional, recently new 3D printing lab was developed. The computer centre is also small. Can accommodate at max 80 students. 5. Hostels: college has 6 hostels. The hostels are okay. Washrooms are pretty bad. 6. Campus Building: most buildings are very old. The new academic block is good.

Hostel Facilities

3

First year students are given a double room. There are enough rooms to accommodate all students. There are 4 occupancy rooms for some students in 2nd to 3rd year, most have single rooms. There are 6 hostels. Average Rent is 50K for one year and 18K is approximate Mess fee. Mess food is okay. The hostel washrooms aren't well maintained.

Placement Experience:

I am a recent graduate in computer science with specialization in artificial intelligence and machine learning. i took admission in CU just because of their excellent placements for the computer science students and what i feel is during my journey they provide i'll not say 100% placements that they guys claimed but yes the placement is really good. the average package is of 7-8 lpa and they offered placements globally like in hyderabad, pune, banglore, noida that are considered as best places to work in IT sector. but in my last year i.e 4th year i have been offered a position of software engineer intern in gurugram and that was off campus so i grabbed that opportunity. and there is one policy of chandigarh university if you opt for off campus placement then you get debarred from the TPP campus placements of chandigarh university and you will not be able to sit in the campus placements of chandigarh university. rest overall the campus placement is good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Choosing this course was based on many reasons. Firstly the growth of dental studies in the near future was the major reason. The faculties are also well qualified and each subject has 3 faculties. The teachers are approachable and really comfortable with all the students. The teaching methods are also good. You will find professionalism in the college with some strict curriculum and rules. We have our class test and viva scheduled every week or as soon as the topic is done.
