Remarks

The college is good for making a relationship with friends and creating a life never imagined. But this is not good for anyone interested in non CSE research field as very few people shows a helping hand in those fields. Also, labs are not that good.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

This Institute is not research driven for B Tech students as professors and student interaction is rare. But Placement is comparatively good. Some big companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs etc come for recruitment. PG programs are not that good compared to UG.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement is very good. On considering students with above 6. 5 CGPA, almost 100 percent gets placed in ECE and CSE branch. Although it is a little less in other branches. Few companies like ITC, L&T Infotech, Cap Gemini, Samsung R&D, TATA etc visits every year.

College Events

4

Three major events are organized throughout the year. 1) Tecnoesis: The technical event which is one of the biggest in northeast. 2) Incandescence: A cultural event where singers like Guthrie Govan, Darshan Raval comes and other sub events happen under various modules. 3) Posua: A Bihu event based on Assamese culture. Singers like Zubeen Garg, Papon are called on stage.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is kind of expensive after Smriti Irani made fees hike. For income above 5 lakh, tuition fees are 1. 25 lakh excluding other fees. Although there is some waiver for economically backward students. The other fees like a hostel, LAN, TV, Gym, Sports, Library etc are the same for all students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

I didn't opt for a scholarship. The eligibility criteria were that family income should be below 2. 5 lakh rupees which my family exceeded.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is very fun for boys. Although girls are safe there, they are not allowed to be outside the hostel after 9 pm. The gender ratio is about 8:1 boys to girls. Very few students go for politics as most are focused on Placement or higher studies. Extracurricular activities are there in diverse manners. Various clubs are there like Robotics club, eco-club, alumni Association Etc.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes. Boys get double sitted room in 1st year, Tripple room in 2nd year. In 3rd year, they get single or Tripple room based on CGPA. all fourth year students get single room. In case of girls, they don't have single room.

Alumni/Alumna

They are very helpful in terms of giving internship opportunity, job advice and also monetary help in organizing some events.

Admission

I always wanted to do engineering. I selected this Institute based on my performance in JEE Mains entrance. After the entrance result, JOSAA organized counselling and I got admission to NIT Silchar. Selection is done based on ranking and chosen Institute preference.

Faculty

1.5

The faculty members hold higher degree (mostly PhD) and some has great knowledge. Although most of them doesn’t pay attention to teaching as they are focused in publishing own papers. Classes vary based on year of study and branch. On average 5-6 classes a day for 5 days in a week.

Placement Experience:

While my college does not offer campus placements, it emphasizes enhancing employability through various initiatives and resources. The career services department organizes workshops, seminars, and networking events to prepare students for the job market. They offer guidance on resume writing, interview skills, and professional development, empowering students to showcase their strengths effectively to potential employers. Additionally, the college fosters industry connections through guest lectures, internships, and collaborative projects, exposing students to real-world scenarios and enhancing their practical skills. These opportunities not only enrich academic learning but also increase employability by providing valuable hands-on experience. Furthermore, the college encourages students to explore entrepreneurship and self-employment avenues through incubation centers and startup support programs. They provide mentorship, funding assistance, and access to resources to nurture entr
