Remarks

Being a tertiary care hospital, AIIMS might not fit for students belonging to basic sciences. And for medicos it is the ideal place. Management is good but they dont work even for a single second if their shift is over, so if you got late for something. Better luck next day. In terms of sports, the campus have every court for probably every sports. Swimming, basketball, football, lawn tenis, table tennis, badminton, gym everything is there.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is divided into 6 subjects, General Biochemistry, Immunology, RDT, Molecular biology, stem cell biology, cell biology and other minor branches. The M.Sc Medical Biochemistry is highly research oriented. Easch student have to choose a particular faculty's lab according to their research interest. Student also have clinical case discussions. Each M.Sc Candidate have to complete his/hers thesis which is purely based on scientific experiments. They have to work for research as well. This thesis helps them get trained in lab oriented environment and working in it.

Placement Experience

1.5

In my course, there are no placement cell whatsoever. Though the face value makes better chances to get a job elsewhere. Also, there are no paid internships instead you have to pay a fees to get a internship.

College Events

5

AIIMS Delhi, every year organise one of the largest south Asian Medical fest called Pulse. There are numerous stalls of big brands, games, sports. Music nights etc The other events includes high-end brands coming for Scientific conferences of reputed jounals, organizations etc. They are fun too.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The total fees of both years including hostel security deposit is about 2,500 INR. The fees is hell cheap, it is cheaper than my monthly metro expenses. If you consider the full expense of getting admission into AIIMS that will be- 1. AIIMS form fees: 1500 INR 2. Tution fess:. 905 INR 3. Hostel security:. 1500 INR 4. Final year exam fees: 300 INR TOTAL: 4205 INR

Fees and Financial Aid

No, i didn't avail any education loan. Why would i take it? The fees is hell cheap. I feel offended by the private institutes as they charge lot of money for nothing.

Campus Life

5

I guess females are more as compared to males in the campus. Even in my batch I'm the only male candidate. Individuals from all states are get selected for PGs this diversify the enviroment. We also have a Tamil mess in hostel 8, first floor. We also have a scientific community based union called Society of Young Scientists 'SYS'. I don't think there is any sex discrimination in the campus nor any discrimination in terms of caste, religion, politics or economic status. I, myself come from a middleclass muslim family and there is no discrimination anywhere among the students, staffs or faculties. My department Dept of Biochemistry, is also full of Tamilians, muslims, bengalis, kerala, Nepalis etc. The labs are equipped with high end instruments. Probably the best place to do your M.Sc dissertation from. Every other month we have a Scientific conferences, poster presentation competitions, Scientific talks etc. In my last two years i haven't seen debates though maybe i missed that.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes, though i don't live there anyway. The rooms are okayish but the problem is they allot one room to 3 M.Sc boys from different streams. Sometimes this causes problems as some people don't keep hygiene whatsoever.

Alumni/Alumna

So there are PhD students in each labs. These are the people you'll be interacting with as you'll choose a particular lab. And believe me, they are amazing people. They fun loving, happy and very casual towards anyone who enter in the lab. The immediate seniors of my course are now PhD student in the same department. They are really helpful.

Admission

AIIMS conduct a strict CBT (Online) entrance test. The body scan is really strict, you are not even allowed to take your belt inside the test center. I prepared for AIIMS M.biotechnology and M.Sc Biochemistry. As you can fill the individual form for both courses. The syllabus is almost all subjects of life sciences so you can read pranav kumar pathfinder. The forms are made available in between feb-march for every session. Exams takes place every year on may. If you get selected (5 seats in my course) the couselling will take place around end of july. Joining dates are most probably 1st of August.

Faculty

3.5

Honestly, few faculties really know the concept what they are teaching, they are very supportive and helpful. And few faculties are average and some are just there, having very little knowledge about the subject they are teaching. Though, everyone are helpful.

The students become eligible for placements in the last semester. Primal Group, Allen Career Institute, Akash Institute, etc a lot of companies came for placement. This is a time of recession. So, very few students get placements. My plan is to join the coaching industry as a teacher after my degree.

From final year onwards students become eligible for placements. There are lot of companies like Accenture, flipkart, Amazon, HSBC, etc which offer 5-10 students. The highest package was 50lakhs -1Cr and average is 9- 15 LPA. Usually much students get placed from our college. But this year the percentage is very low could be due the firing of freshers and fear of corporate companies to hire freshers. I Will go for the placements which is still going ( second season ).
