Armed Forces Medical College, popularly known as AFMC Pune, is the first medical institute set up by the Armed Forces of any Asian country. AFMC Pune was established in 1948, affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and approved by NMC for UG and PG courses. AFMC Pune students join the Armed Forces Medical Services as Commissioned Officers in one of the three services, i.e. Army, Navy, and Air Forces on the successful completion of their courses. AFMC Pune Placement report for 2025 has not been released by the college yet. However, as per AFMC Pune NIRF Report 2024, a total of 106 UG students were placed in 2022. Ans. The following categories of candidates are not eligible to apply for AFMC Pune Admissions.
- Candidates who have passed in Domestic Science, Domestic Arithmetic, and Lower Math separately or in combination with other subjects like General Science / Social studies in High School / Higher Secondary (Multipurpose) or equivalent examination.
- Candidates who have passed only Pre-University / Pre-Degree (one-year course) or Pre-Professional in Agriculture / Veterinary / Dental Examination.
- Candidates who have passed the Pre-professional or equivalent qualifying examination as a private candidate or from Open schools.
- Candidates who have secured the requisite percentage but in subsequent attempts or compartment examination.
Ques. Are any seats reserved for SC/ST candidates at AFMC Pune?
Ans. For the SC/ST category candidates, up to 10 seats out of 145 will be offered subject to fulfilling the following criteria: -
- The SC/ST candidates must have applied for AFMC, Pune and also qualified in the NEET UG – 2025 written examination.
- They must fulfil all other conditions/standards, as applicable to non-SC / ST candidates, like age eligibility, academic qualifications, medical fitness, etc.
- These seats will be in addition to any vacancies secured by SC/ST candidates on the basis of their position in the main merit list (excluding waiting list).
- In case of any SC / ST girl / boy, admitted against these vacancies the number of girls / boys to be admitted against the general seats will be reduced correspondingly.
- All such candidates will have to sign a surety bond on the same lines and on the same conditions as Non-SC / ST candidates.

- AC-3 Tier railway warrant for journey during term vacation from college to home and back.

- All AFMC cadets are provided Insurance / Disability benefits by Army Group Insurance fund on payment of Rs 7,200/- as a one-time non-refundable premium. Additional premium for every relegated term of six months is Rs 1355/-. Insurance cover is Rs 15,00,000/- for death for 100% disability proportionately reduced to Rs 3,00,000/- for 20% disability.
