Which candidates are not eligible for AFMC Pune MBBS Admissions?

The following categories of candidates are not eligible to apply for AFMC Pune Admissions.Candidates who have passed in Domestic Science, Domestic Arithmetic, and Lower Math separately or in combination with other subjects like General Science / Social studies in High School / Higher Secondary (Multipurpose) or equivalent examination.Candidates who have passed only Pre-University / Pre-Degree (one-year course) or Pre-Professional in Agriculture / Veterinary / Dental Examination.Candidates who have passed the Pre-professional or equivalent qualifying examination as a private candidate or from Open schools.Candidates who have secured the requisite percentage but in subsequent attempts or compartment examination.

Are any seats reserved for SC/ST candidates at AFMC Pune?

For the SC/ST category candidates, up to 10 seats out of 145 will be offered subject to fulfilling the following criteria: -The SC/ST candidates must have applied for AFMC, Pune and also qualified in the NEET UG 2025 written examination.They must fulfil all other conditions/standards, as applicable to non-SC / ST candidates, like age eligibility, academic qualifications, medical fitness, etc.These seats will be in addition to any vacancies secured by SC/ST candidates on the basis of their position in the main merit list (excluding waiting list).In case of any SC / ST girl / boy, admitted against these vacancies the number of girls / boys to be admitted against the general seats will be reduced correspondingly.All such candidates will have to sign a surety bond on the same lines and on the same conditions as Non-SC / ST candidates.

Are there any special concessions for liability candidates at AFMC Pune?

The government provides the following concessions to service liabilitycandidate (male and female) at AFMC Pune:Entitled rations as authorized and subsidized messing arrangements.Hostel accommodation and allied services.AC-3 Tier railway warrant for journey during term vacation from college to home and back.AC-2 Tier rail journey on railway warrant after being commissioned.Book & Equipment Allowance of Rs 6,000/- per medical cadet per year for purchase of books and equipment during the entire training period.Stationery Allowance of Rs 1680/- per year & Rs 210/- per month.Uniform allowance Rs 6000/- per medical cadet during first year, and Rs 1250/- per year as maintenance allowance in subsequent years.Hair Cutting Allowance of Rs 210/- per month per medical cadet.Washing allowance Rs 840/- per month & Rs 315/- during break.All AFMC cadets are provided Insurance / Disability benefits by Army Group Insurance fund on payment of Rs 7,200/- as a one-time non-refundable premium. Additional premium for every relegated term of six months is Rs 1355/-. Insurance cover is Rs 15,00,000/- for death for 100% disability proportionately reduced to Rs 3,00,000/- for 20% disability. Further details regarding terms and conditions are available with the Admission Cell, AFMC. The scheme is compulsory for all cadets.

Is it mandatory for AFMC Pune students to avail hostel accommodation?

The College is fully residential and stay in the hostel is compulsory for all medicalcadets once they join/take admission in the college. Separate hostels for boys and girls are located in the college campus. AFMC Pune hostel fee is INR 20,400.

What are the placement opportunities like at AFMC Pune?

The placement opportunities at AFMC Pune are guaranteed once students get admission. Students get commissioned as Lieutenants after the final year of MBBS, during the internship. After the completion of the internship, the students are given the rank of Captain or its equivalent and posted as RMO (Registered Medical Officer) in various regiments. After serving for 3.5 years, they become eligible to pursue PG courses.

What if one does not wish to join the armed forces after AFMC Pune?

Students who do not wish to join the services after the completion of their program at AFMC Pune, must pay the bond amount of INR 65,00,000 and move out of AFMC without pursuing an internship.

The college you deserve

Likes

The campus is awesome and you can literally get to do a lot a stuff apart from studies
The classes are conducted on a regular basis
There is no reservation in the college for any group

Internships Opportunities:

After the degree of mbbs after 4.5 years the Student has two options either he can pay out of the college to do the internship and join the civil else the person can join the forces and do the internship in various military hospital across the country

Bond amount is very large .. difficult to pay
Pg not allowed for fixed time period .. atleast 4year survice is needed

Placement Experience:

We don't worry much here about our placements here as our aim is to join armed Forces eventually, best job opportunity for any guy in the country. Yes, we do have internship and we have highest salary for any intern in the country that is salary of an army officer. It's not a stipend but a great salary.

In what order would you rank MAMC, KGMU, AFMC. IMS BHU, CMC and Grant Medical College?

According to the reviews online by the students of these colleges, here’s what the ranking seems to be like:

KGMU has mostly been ranked among the top 5 institutions in India. It usually maintained its place in rank 2 or 3. This institution is 125 years old with proper educational experience.
AFMC is a very disciplined institution with strict rules and codes of conduct, as it has direct affiliation with Armed forces. Though being well reputed, in academics and exposure it might lag behind.
MAMC, Grants Medical College (GMC) and IMS BHU are at a similar level.
Some students claim MAMC to be slightly better than AFMC.
GMC is very popular in and around Maharashtra.
IMS-BHU is autonomous; it has the reputation of BHU tagged along which is beneficial.
CMC is amongst the oldest medical colleges, but their severe lack of proper facilities in this college and political disturbances have tarnished its reputation.

Therefore it is suggested you either go for KGMU or MAMC, as they will provide you with the required exposure and opportunities.

I will try to answer your query and provide some additional information.

After the top most colleges- AIIMS, PGI, JIPMER, NIMHANS and SGPGI, these are the colleges you should try for- Medical colleges in Delhi are the best choice. Out of these, MAMC is the most desirable. It is followed by VMMC, LHMC and UCMS. Then come the medical colleges in Mumbai. KEM is a top medical college, followed by Sion and Grant. Colleges of Kerala and Madras are at par with one another. But Madras Medical College is the best among these. AFMC and CMC Vellore are great for patients, but not so much for the students.

Thus, MAMC is a great choice. I do not possess much knowledge of KGMU and IMS BHU, so I haven’t talked about them.
